this is correct...any teal hunt booked north of I-10 is a crap shoot no matter how good someone thinks a guide is...the "good" ones dont book teal hunts up there for a reason

Some of my best teal hunts ever have been about 6 miles north of I-10. grin

Sure, but last season we had a large pond in north texas with 200 teal on it staying for the entire 12 days.
Did not want to drive to houston and spend gas and motel to see more birds.
Every time i went to houston guides pile you up with 10 other yahoos and the hunt was over in 15 minutes thanks to an idiot shooting 7,5 lead at them. Game wardens showed up and i only fired 1 shot claiming 1 bird. I had to see flock after flock of teal landing while gw was buzy with that bonehead.

No thanks, ill pass. Rather stay in north texas

you need to pick your outfit better, sounds like your taking one experience and and making it sounds like the norm down there...your better than that up

Make it 3 different outfitters (except for the lead shot which was only 1 occurrence) from 1997 till 2006 every september. I stayed north after that.
Yes, you will see tons of teal down south, but you will rarely find a guide that will take a group of 4 hunters out for $125 a pop. On at least 8 hunts i was put with more then 10 guns, one time 16 guys... No more do i like these hunts, except for late snows in Arkansas.

Unless they put me with Jeff and his 14 Roosters siblings I might reconsider

like I said, you need to do more research, ask more questions and do an overall better job when selecting an outfit.

You may want to hit up Cody Malone. We went on a teal hunt with him last year and had a blast. We had a 5 man limit! Well besides him scaring the piss out of me driving the boat lol

Looks like Latin to me.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Lots of good public duck hunting land around DFW. I wouldn't even scout until the weekend before opener. If you have access to a boat and binocs, you can go out early the weekend prior and scout for big flocks of teal. Probably the easiest self scout/hunt in DFW. Not a lot of pressure on the lakes compared to the big duck opener either. If teal are in a certain area the week before, chances are a new group will be using the same area the next week.

Come on man....

92% of all teal will bypass north texas and go straight to south texas, mexico, chile and argentina. They have been doing this for the last, lets just say 1258 years or so...

Good luck confused2
