Ok, so I had to do a little research on this one. Although the first teal tag joke was posted on this forum 1/21/2005 (4 months after the THF was created), it did not take off then. When it took off was 2.5 years later on 7/11/07 (the next time it was mentioned), Big Daddy K made that post, kyotee1 quickly dismissing the joke who is the official THF IGW, that right there laid the fertile ground for the teal tag joke to grow...

That's really two separate jokes. Those earlier threads refer to teal tags and pintail tags (everyone knows there is no such thing as pintail tags) as tags you would need to use during early teal season or regular season. The joke some of us are referring to now is about the teal tags issued for Spring only that are used to take a mature drake in full plumage, this time of year, not for any fall duck season. These are Spring teal tags. It's really two different jokes. I don't know when the first appearance of Spring teal tags was on the THF. But it seams Guy you are our historian. I think it's '08 or '09.

Well the spring teal tag idea is not really a joke, it's an idea. Early season teal tags is the real joke. I mean it is a joke that many still think you do not need them, as much as this forum has been trying to tell everyone. You would think after 8 years of telling everyone, they would get their dang teal tags.

The best duck hunting spoof I saw someone post was not the teal tags, but when they talked about hunting on Ray Hubbard and posted a very realistic looking hunting map similar to the corps hunting maps. It had the waterfowl hunting areas shaded in. But I guess the poster got worried some moron would print it off and go hunting, because they removed it. I wish I had saved it and have no recollection of who the forum member was that posted it or if they are still here.
