I shot my buddies new slim DXT bow. And well it didn't just blow me away like i thought it would. It had a little less hand shock but at almost twice the retail price of my Diamond? Come on really?

Gotta shoot as many as you can and buy only the one that feels best and fits closest to the size of your wallet. Only way to do it.

I'm happy with my Diamond and much happier with what I paid for it compared to the Matthews.

for what a new diamond costs with the 50.00 of "extras" they give you if you buy at cabelas, you could have a quality mathews bare bow and rig it out properly of course would be more but it would be the same extra amount if you rigged out that diamond. theres just not enough price difference for me to justify it

From the price shopping I've been doing I'm only seeing about $50 or so difference between the Diamond Black Ice and the Mathews DXT or S2.
Black Ice at Sportsman's Warehouse is $649, S2 at The Bow Shop is $699.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

There's not that much difference in price. What? $200? By the time you add the goodies both are expensive.
If you put low end accessories on any bow you can make it loud and slow. Rig it out right and you can make it fast and quiet.
Your Black Ice may be as quiet as my DXT, and you might even be able to shoot an arrow as fast as I can, and maybe just as accurately. But, I can't shoot your bow at 70 lbs. I can shoot my DXT at 70 lbs. all day long.
Don't get carried away with this "really?" crap. Cavemen killed animals with sharpened sticks. So, come on, really? You need to buy something?
Come on man. It's what works for each person. I used to have a 90 mph fastball, and that has something to do with why my shoulder doesn't operate quite as efficiently as do those of most others. The smoothness of my DXT allows me to shoot at a poundage that I might not otherwise be able to manage, and that's worth something to me.
Quit bashing bows because they don't fit your needs. There are lots of top notch bows out there, and you shouldn't bash any of them. Choose your favorite, sure, but don't knock someone else because they have different needs than yours.

I never knocked Mathews or there owners. If you read my post again you will see that. However, I believe alot of the price is tied up in marketing and not bow. My bow is a 2007 Triumph not a Black Ice. What i was saying basically seeing there commercial every 15 min on TV and with a sticker twice what mine was i was expecting much more.

Was it supposed to float up into the treestand, draw itself, and kill the animal for you? There's only so much you can do to a bow. They can only be made so smooth, so accurate, and so easy to tune. I think Mathews has made an awesome bow, and a good marketing program is not a crime...

Yes, by saying a Black Ice is half the price of a DXT, which it's not, and then saying really? (like you're somehow more informed than are the rest) That's knocking Mathews.
I suppose prices have changed and probably vary from shop to shop, but the Black Ice I shot when I was in the market was about $640, and the DXT was $820. Now my math isn't so good, but that's not half is it? In fact, it's not that much difference at all once it's fully rigged.

I'm not posting this to get into the middle of anything. I've done a lot of bow shopping the last few weeks and can tell you that the Diamond Black Ice bows retail from anywhere from $550 to $650 and the Mathews S2, Drenalin, and DXT were anywhere from $680 to $750 at the archery shops I went to.
IMO these are just four bows on the market that are damn good bows. And any of the upper end bows made by all the reputable manufacturers I believe are fine bows. I think it falls to which one each person likes the best. I think they are all pretty dang equal on speed, accuracy, and everythng else. Hell, they dern near all look the same when they're hung on the racks at the bow shops!

Bows are like anything else, you get what you pay for. You don't have to spend the most to have a great bow. There are lots and lots of great bows out there that will take most animals. The greatest bow in the world is only as good as the skill of the shooter.
You need to go shoot as many different bows as possible and see which one fits with most of your likes and expectations. You can decide if you want to spend this or that to get what you want or what you have to have. You like speed, get speed, you want smooth, go with smooth, you want quiet, go there.
To get on here and agrue ones individual preference in such a subject thing is really silly. Shoot what you like and pay what your willing to pay.

And try to remember that there's a whole faction of people out there wearing green, pink, or rainbow colored stickers trying to shut us all down. We need to stick together. Gun hunters with archery hunters, etc.
We need to be encouraging one another and helping one another, not trying to prove that my more expensive bow is better than your less expensive bow, or that my less expensive bow is better than your more expensive bow.
Crap, they are all bows, and we get to shoot them.
Also remember that when you make a half baked statement there's always someone with some real world numbers that will make you look real stupid. You better throw down real numbers and not assume that you were the first to the water hole.

Prices. When you say half the price, you need to say one is $820 and the other is $410. When one is $780 and the other is $640, the half the price thing makes it seem as if either you skipped math class or you have an axe to grind.

No, you aren't going to hurt my feelings by making unqualified statements.
You're going to hurt archery in general if you keep bashing bows though rather than encouraging the sport altogether.
All I've said is that there are a number of good bows out there, and each of us is different, as are the bows. If you like a Black Ice more than a DXT that's great. Shoot the Black Ice. But, don't act like everyone who has a DXT made a terrible mistake and it's somehow your duty to point that out to us.

You know, I don't know how many hundreds of Drenalins and DXT's I've watched walk out of our doors in very happy hands, and I've yet to have somebody come back and say that they didn't get what they paid for and wanted a refund...
