It is good to know that there are bowhunters out there that are not sold on Mathews just because of the name. Lets face it there are plenty of options out there now. Research guys

I know there is a bunch of other great bows out there. But why does everyone always dog on mathews to make that point?

Well guys I will give props to Mathews when they came out in the 90's cause they were way ahead in technology as far as the bowmarket is concerned. But now there are alot of manufacturers out there that have the same advantages as Mathews. They no longer are a stand alone company. The competition is getting much more fierce.

Here is my take on Mathews. I shot one as in my other post and yes it was a sweet shooter. I just don't think they are worth the price tag or the hype. Personally i all the commercials on Outdoor channel has people convinced they are the best of the best. Don't get me wrong it was a nice bow.

Exactly! When you actually shoot something good you realize how far behind they are.

I was a Mathews fan boy for years. I have had 9 of them. At one time you couldn't give me anything else. They have a huge following of shooters. Don't get me wrong I killed a trainload of stuff with them. Most of the trophies on my walls were killed with a Mathews. I decided to go a different route a while back and sure am glad I did. I get right at 30 fps faster with my X Force shooting the exact same arrow.

I can't imagine that the new Monster is gonna be very enjoyable to shoot. The 5 inch brace height will not be forgiving at all. Only time will tell if they catch up in the speed department to some of the other top companies.

I find this funny. I just bought a bowtech. But I also think that the Switchback is possibly the best bow ever made. I als think that it is funny how some of you think that the mathews monster is a replica of the pse x force... have you not thought that it might be the other way around?? Matt McPherson owned the technology behind the x force from what i hear... could be wrong. I did months of research before I bought my new one. I could probably tell you the axle to axle length, brace heigt, ibo speed of every 2008 and early released 2009 bow on the market. if mathews would have continued the switchback, i would have bought one. bowtech felt the best. reezen was smooth, just not right for me. they did not have the monster and i just did not like the x force (probably because it was set at like a 4 foot draw length). if your looking for a new bow, go to an archery shop that sells the big four, mathews, hoyt, bowtech and pse. that way there not biased to what they only sell. (a mathews dealer will tell you that mathews is the best ever made and a bowtech will tell you the same). my $0.02

I promise you, shoot a pse x-force and a switchback side by side and the switch back is smoother anyday of the week. Who care about speed. If you can't hit a deer or any other animal w/ 280 fps, you need to sell your equipment, and stick to a rifle. I've shot deer with my switchback at 50 yards no problem. By the way , the guy I buy my bows from got a x-force in before they come out, and he never could get them to shoot what they advertised. He kept sending them back and getting another one in, and not one hit the mark!!!! And for hoyt, mathews came out with cam and half first, wasn't and still isn't better. By the way mathews, advertises to be the most comfortable bow in the world , not the fastest. The only thing mathews need to fix are the strings they come with.

Unless deer start getting faster, i'm pretty conforitable with my DXT. But if you only get opinions from Mathew's shooters thats a pretty boring and un helpful discussion.

I'm thankful for the things i have and all the things i don't

I shoot a Mathews Dreanlin and a PSE Dreamseason. They feel both about the same when I pull them back. I like speed as long as im accurate!! I need all the speed I can get with a heavy arrow you never know when I will muck up a shot and hit a little forward in the shoulder. More energy helps!!! Plus with my PSE Dreamseason I don't need any stringleeches. It just as quiet as my Dreanlin with the string loaded!!! I'm hitting 295 with a 440 grain arrow, where as my Dreanlin was 272 or 273. With Either bow I can stack them pretty tight out to 60 yards. Of course I pratice year round!!! Any good quality bow will work good, just take time to pratice and pratice some more!!! I just won't trust a Bowtech cause a three day old bow blew up in my face at full draw. I would even try a Hoyt again, just I like a lighter bow.
