Some of you may know that Mark(PitchForkPredator) and Mike (ErathKid) invited me to come up to the PitchFork Ranch to try and get a hog or two and possibly a mature buck and to just hang out in God's country and enjoy the outdoors. Well it turned out even greater than I could have ever imagined and I never even pulled the trigger. The hunting was tough. With last months snow melting and soaking the ground there was plenty for he wildlife to eat without having to leave bedding areas to hit the feeders. We hunted hard but never seen a single buck and never got on any hogs. We did it all. Spot and stalk, sat on the side of hills, hunted blinds and feeders but as i said before it was very slow with the animals not needing to come to corn. Even though I didn't get to shoot anything just the beauty of the place and getting to meet some great people made it a very memorable experience. I wish I would have taken more pics and heck we didn't even get a group pic but I guess there is always next time. Mark and Mike once again thank you for your overwhelming hospitality and for showing me a great time and getting me in the outdoors oh and if y'all got any pics feel free to add them to the thread. The Cowboy shack. Mike I could have swore there was more wood on that porch when we first rolled up. The beautiful country Found this guy trying to get warm while out getting some firewood

That was a blast. Scott, you're a pleasure to be around. Too bad on the deer and hogs though. I saw 1 deer the whole time. The least I've ever seen up there. We ate good, had some good fires and swapped tales. We'll do it again soon. Next time a little further south. Talk to you soon.

Scott was a pleasure to spend time with. Really enjoyed getting to know him. Erath Kid made up some great food and his wife baked Scott a awesome welcome home cake. Glad we could show our appreciation for the service and sacrifice Scott has made for our FREEDOM. He presented me with his American Flag that he had on the wall of his barracks in Afghanistan to show his appreciation for having him out. Priceless....

Great pics and I know you had to have a great time up in that neck of the woods. Mike. Do you know James Stephens who runs Mesquite Outfitters. My family and I have stayed a couple of times at the hunting lodge during Dumont Homecoming which is past Scott Camp while Bob Moorehouse was ranch manager. Beautiful country and I am lucky to have property just down the road. My shack

You fellas realize you are at the steps of history, that cabin is the one Wyman Minzer live in and did his famous coyote research, and trapping from. I was lucky enough to work for the forks one year cleaning pastures and such a long time ago. The history of that ranch and country is unbelievable, I cherish the time I spent there.

Your cabin looks comfy too.

About 3 years ago ago a rangefire burned about 4k acres around the shack, consuming a loafing shed and a 2 man outhouse. I took pictures of it before the fire, just need to find them. Anyway, that was weird. Firefighters managed to save the half dug-out cowboy shack, but couldn't save the other structures unfortunately. I was told by a cowboy that works for the Pitch that that was the shack where Roy Rogers filmed his last western movie, titled, "Macintosh and T.J." I'm not surprised to hear that Wyman Meinzer also stayed in the shack. I have his book on the coyote. Most of his research came from that country.
