Drove out to the ranch this weekend taking 114 to Jacksboro and then drove back to FW in Jacksboro highway. Both to roads had an abnormal number of dead skunks on them. So the question is what is the cause? Were there an unusual number born the last few years or is the drought forcing them to move more so they are getting hit? Is it something else I'm not considering? It just seems strange.

It's their mating season. Males are out looking for females.

We went to Ballinger last week saw a lot of road kill skunks, love makes them blind.

You know how they say everyone is good at something.

I seem to have a knack for hitting Skunks.

I bet I would run over a Skunk if I was driving the Moon Buggy!!!

The darn things seem to materialize out of thin air.

I need to find something else to be good at.

I like to use them on a coyote set a coyote loves them. I pick up the road kill for trapping bait.

Same thing driving from SW Wise Co. to Cleburne. If a fella wanted skunk hide to make a hat, now would be the time.

I see them on roads or parking lots often throughout the summer.(work nights)and usually their eating bugs that cars have knocked down

A lot of animals go in cycles. Some years you see a lot of rabbits, rats, squirrels or some other animal. Quite a few years ago we had an abundance of skunks. Then for years never saw one. Now in the last year we are starting to see them again. A while back it was porcupines , now very seldom see one.

They are attracted to the white stripe in the road and thus they become road kill.

I caught 4 skunks in Duke Dog proof traps at the feeder in front of my house from last Tues. thru Friday. See them everywhere on the roads right now.

Skunk from distance wafting by - not terribly unpleasant, just smells informational.
Skunk spray all over you - no bueno
