I have already disassembled the one in the pic and have machined a housing to go scopeless. Hopefully I will have it all up and going this weekend.

If you can see out to 100 yards through the scope your going to double that distance scopeless. Did you get a 100 or a 120mm lens?

I lease a 1400 acre place and at this time last year there were a hundred or so hogs on it. This year, nada, nothing, zilch. Went out Saturday to varmint hunt and the cold front blew in and wiped me out. I was able to site it in a fire off a few rounds. Pretty sweet to be dead on in three shots.

I chose it mostly because the OD is straight and it was easier to come up with a way to hold it. Now that I am going scopeless I'll probably wish I had the 120.

Its crazy how they can be here one week and gone the next. Im sure they will be back though. I just got the Oslon in my T20 and it looks like I have gained at least 50yds with it and Im only running it at 700ma. I didnt realize I had used my 1000ma driver on another project.....now I have to wait till a new 1000ma one comes in. Good luck on future hunts.

Went out Saturday night and did some varmint control. I bought some UltraFire 18650 batteries and they taint worth $hizt. I may be getting 60 min of light out of them. Of course, now I know they are almost all fakes. You have a source for authentic batteries?

Good shooting. Congrats. I have been using ultrafire batteries too. Honestly I think to get good one we will have to get away from ultrafire all together. I dont know how to tell the real from fake.

I saw on a light forum that all UltraFire batteries are recycled laptop batteries and that you can buy the wrapper in bulk off the internet. I bought these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-NEW-PANASONIC-...=item25877a86bdThis guy has a good reputation so I'm hoping they are the real deal.

So after using this scope for a few months I experienced some POI shifts. These three screws worked themselves out just enough introduce a little play in the lens adjustment. I tighten them back up with a little Loc-Tite and everything is back to normal.

I dont have a list of parts but its just a low lux board camera ( sony effio ) and a 6-60mm auto iris lens. My earlier version used a 5-100mm and I actually like the larger one better. I set the zoom and focus and leave it. I had POI changes when adjusting the zoom initially.

Day and night pics of the same feeder. As always the actual resolution is far better than these pics of the screen and posted here.

What's the distance to the feeder? What are you using for illumination? How far can you make out "eye shine", that would alert you to a possible animal? What is your approx cost? I'm looking for something to scan the area with instead of panning with the rifle and scope.
thanks, CC
God Bless

Which method did you use to connect the CS mount lens to the board camera?
Thanks!

So a little disclaimer. I built 2 of these DIY scopes. Had one mounted on my AR and shot at a Lion while setting in my blind waiting on the hogs to show up. The lion walked in from the right to left and turned and walked directly away into some thick brush. I fired at it's a-hole and grazed the left side spinning it around a couple spins. It took off before I could get another shot off. I couldn't believe I missed. Started looking at the scope mount and found the pica-tinny mount loose. I went and bought a Pulsar n750 the next week. However, my homemade job has a clearer image, is easier to sight in than the pulsar. I have now relegated my Frankenscopes to my airguns for vermin control.

The feeder is right at 100yds. Im not sure how far I can see eyeshine but I can identify deer/pigs at around 400yds but 200 or so is a realistic shooting distance. I think I have about $150 total including the illuminator. ( its a T-20 that I converted to IR ).
I mounted the lens to the camera with an adapter I bought. Some come with a c and cs mount adapter.

Yours is the best DIY night scope I've seen thus far. Did you use the board out of the little black box camera?

Yours is the best DIY night scope I've seen thus far. Did you use the board out of the little black box camera? Thank you. No, I had considered taking the box camera apart from my earlier version but I didnt want to tear it down. My kids hunt with me so I still use it. ( it is on a 5.56 AR, this one is on a 6.8SPC, they need the extra energy for less than perfect shots ). I bought a new board camera for this one. The advantage I have is my VMC ( CNC Mill ) that has allowed me to machine the housing to affix the camera as it was designed to be mounted and also trap the lens snugly in the front plate ( less than .001 clearance, almost a press fit ). There are orings between the board and the housing and between the face of the lens and the front plate to ( hopefully absorb shock ). On this one ( been in use for at least 8mo ) I have had no POI shift at all.
