You know I'm just ribbing you, right? I hope you get to come out and shoot for a lesson no matter how you get it done.

Seeing the range with targets out to 800, and being limited to 300 for the match isn't going to help your mindset.

I'm sure it won't. If I don't win it I'll have to cough up the money. Sounds like too much damn fun to pass up. Still think you should let me do some graphic design work for your website for a lesson smile

So I just looked up the location of Wolf City (Shoot first, ask later type of guy) and realized that there isn’t much of anything around.

Coming from 75060, it is a 90mile drive one way so my question is this, What’s for lunch?

I am going to be hungry, is this match going to be continuous or maybe a break in the middle? Sorry for the late questions, but food was the first thing that crossed my mind and considering that Google Earth shows me one Exxon (Kwik Check), is there anything else around we can eat?

Maybe we can kill something and cook it while we are there grin
Or maybe someone has a grill and we can bring some meat or something? I don’t know, but hell I would be willing to throw down some $$ on a bit of food.

<--fat a$$

When I have a shooting match, I always bring a cooler with sandwich stuff and chips, or whatever you prefer. There will be some down time between stages to make a sandwich or two around lunch time. I am also hoping to crack open a beer or two after the match, when the rifles are put up. You are correct, there is not any places that I know of to go grab some lunch and come back very quickly.

There is a gas station not far from there - they sell burgers.

There are a few, a great hamburger place, Cowboy Cafe; then there's a good local mexican food place El Arbol, and Sunshine Cafe is a good all-around place.

Heck, I might even organize a THF get together and run the smoker for you boys...

I love me a good burger too, glad you told me these are not the burgers I'm looking for.

Bring that smoker and I bet lots of folks will be a bit jelly... smile

I really hope a lot more people sign up. It will be a great event, and we will begin planning the lay out and stages this Friday.

Chad and I will factor in breaking for lunch if Vernon is going to commit. If he can't we'll all just have to eat when we have time. Competitors will have way more down time to eat when they get ready. ROs will have a tough time.

Vernon, I don't know how you're going to shoot the match AND make lunch, but we'll help you make it happen! wink

After everyone checks zero, we will probably start down range about 500 yards. Walk out, shoot a couple or a few stages, and walk back. Those that can't make the walk we'll have one UTV to transport you back and forth. This is a preliminary thought as of right now. We'll know more after Chad and I lay out the stages on Friday.

Better insulate the forearm of the rifle and wear welding gloves. Shoot fast, before they heat up!

Well now you have me thinking this through more seriously than I had intended...

In theory, he could pull the trailer up to the line assuming he has room to stand up with the smoker on the trailer. He can be over there rotating and turning the meat, then when its his turn to fire, just rotate the meat, fire (of course hitting every target with his first shot), then get right back to cooking. You can stand on the trailer, lay prone on the trailer.

I smell some epic BBQ and Shooting coming March 15th.......EPIC

lol

Today Chad and I worked out the stages, and have figured out, for the most part, what each stage's shooting position, round count, point value, and target distance will be.

Those that plan to shoot it had better show prepared to hit out to 300 yards, as well as have a rock solid zero. This is going to be a great day at the range! It will be challenging, but very do-able. We want to see impacts, but make everyone work for it.

Those that are on the fence; come out and try your hand at the scenarios. Chad had to reign me in on a couple of stages, because I was going to make them too difficult. We're being very kind on the target size and distance.

This is going to be a good time, don't miss it!
