Caught this monster back in 1989 with a topwater frog on 12 pd test while bass fishing.......he weighed 292 pounds

Did some research after I saw your other thread. It does appear that you had yourselves a World Record. Current all tackle World Record looks to be 279 pounds caught from the Rio Grande in 1951. There is no mention as to what pound line the record was set with but I think its safe to say it was probably well above the 12lb line yall used.

Man what a hoss. That beats the current world record by 13 lbs. don't know how you would go about proving it but that would be pretty cool.

Wow thanks for looking that up! we never even thought about it lol it was just another day of fishing for us! we had a lot of good times fishing together! this 4th of july he will have been gone 2 years and i miss him every day. we caught a lot of fish together and fishing hasnt been the same without him with me....he once told me that if it hadnt been for him fish wouldve taken over the world and somehow somewhere deep down i believe that

My grandfather caught one about that big, back in the early 70's on Brownwood....on a spoon.....when he got it up to the boat....my dad took a hatchet and.......bam...right between the eyes....I was about 7....scared the out of me....

I catch big gar everyday and unless you are 9 ft tall and that fish has a lot more girth than she looks I cant find even 200 lbs out of her , here is a 206 look at the girth on her
