How about this study conducted by the USDA National Wildlife Research Center at the University of Nebraska. I don't think they are trying to sell anything.

Did you know the accident rate in states that require blaze orange is not any lower than in states that don't require it? I suspect the reason is that most shooting accidents don't involve hunters being mistaken for game but due to weapons being handled incorrectly. Recent examples that happened here in the Houston area include a man who left his gun loaded from his last hunting trip, only to have it discharge when he was removing it from his vehicle months later at a shooting range. And perhaps one of the most unique cases involved the guy who was killed when his dog stepped on his loaded shotgun as it laid in the bed of his truck.

Gun safety is something that must always be on the mind of hunters, paying specific attention to take those steps that will ensure a greater level of safety. For example, it's always best to leave your gun unloaded until you reach your stand, and then to unload it before leaving. Leave a few rounds in the clip if you feel you must to contend with wild hogs and such.

And you think Bigbow is kidding?

It's the law to wear Hunter Orange on public lands, but once you get where you're going, just remove it, pull a few limbs up to you and there you go.

There was a test done by somebody on here (IIRC), who used a Hawaii-style shirt to break the patterns a little. I can't remember who it was, but it was pretty neat.

One of my problems is, I see folks in down town Fort Worth wearing camo and the closest they have been to a wild animal is the pigeons down town.

Then again, is seeing folks camo'ed from feet to pate, that are going out to set in a 15 foot tower stand that they drive right up to.
