But according to DU, the Bufflehead males are larger than the GWT males on average by .3". GWT 14.7", Bufflehead 15". Also according to DU, " Blue-winged and green-winged teal, thought by many hunters to be the fastest ducks, are actually among the slowest, having a typically flight speed of only 30 mph."

Teal just look like they are going faster since they are smaller and usually very crazy with their flying...

Plenty of buffs in texas but they are land shy, they tend to stay around open water. This was out of our big blind in open water last year. We shot around 100 of em last year and I believe one of the customers from that day got a dead mount of 6 of the buffs but I haven't seen any pics of it yet. Super easy to decoy as well just set 3 or 4 buff decoys about 10 yards away from the spread by themselfs an they land on top of em every time. And I believe that the canvasback is the fastest flying duck.

My dad shot a hen Goldeneye a couple years ago and we have seen drakes on our lake the week after season, we are near lake Fork. The hens are cool looking as well, they have more defined colors than most other hens IMO.

Cans were the fastest on record (71mph) but the Red Breasted Merganser eclipsed it some time ago (100mph)

In the same paragraph that I quoted it also says that a merganser held the new speed record while being chased by a plane, I think it said something like 100mph, and that it took over the record from a canvasback clocked at like 82. Sorry I'm on my phone and don't remember the specific speeds

usually get a few flocks a year, Hard birds to hit! Way faster than a teal, and smaller than a teal!

Yea, no kidding! They looked like missiles flying across the water!

No.....but I don't like to leave them floating in the water. I brought them to show the kids what "dinosaur feet" look like. I tried coot once and it was pretty foul for fowl.

Soak it in milk with the rest of your duck for a day or so. I promise you won't be able to tell the difference.
