I'm going to side with you. I thought it looked like a good concept till I saw the size comparisons. I think I will stick with my XDs 45 since I have it on me all the time and don't even really feel it.

Sorry OP not trying to burst your bubble. I carried a 380 for a long time and if the Glock had come out before the xds I would have bought one too.

I don't feel outgunned with a 7 round .380. Mainly because 90% of the time it is my backup in my pocket to either an XDs 9mm or something much larger on my hip. But sometimes you can't always carry a fullsize pistol. Therefore the G42 along with an LCP and Smith Jframe .38 are my usual pocket guns. Yes the G42 is a bit large compared to the LCP sized guns but they are also much harder to shoot. The G42 fits fine in all my front pant pockets so I'm not worried about size. When it all comes down to it it is what you are comfortable with and can shoot well, not what the crowd or the gun mags preach to the congregation!

I'm not a huge .380 fan but I've always enjoyed shooting Glocks. Jasb had a nice write up a few days ago, about his range time with it, and based on that, and other reviews I've read, if I can find one for 4 bills or less, I'll probably pop on it.

I might buy it in a 9mm if they put one out. Not because I think .380 is a bad caliber, but because I don't want to have to keep yet another caliber of ammo or reloading stuff on hand at all times.

If you look at any the actual shooting test most folks were impressed overall. .380 will get the job done if you are proficient. Keep in mind Gaston Glock is rumored to be a cheap bastard, at least that's what they say at the Glock Armorer schools. This means that since the US market has requested a .380 from Glock for years it is also sellable to the foreign countries that don't allow civilian ownership of NATO rounds. Mine haven't showed up at the door yet but I am going to give it a fair going over. It appears to recoil like a .22 but with a better grip surface that a keltec, LCP, etc. As soon and they arrive I will be pulling them apart to see what is going on inside and see what trigger work I already do will transfer to the 42. I will post any info when I can.

I have no knock on the little G42, though I carry a Glock 30S off duty. I believe that there are instances where it will fill a niche for some people. It would be a great ankle gun (back up to primary weapon)because it is lightweight and small or for someone who is not comfortable shooting a 9mm such as elderly or small statured women. I could see one for when I want to just throw something small in a waistband holster while I go for a run. Not ideal for a bad situation, but fills a specific niche at the time, which is not being empty handed. Like everyone else, If I thought I was going into a gunfight, I would bring something considerably more substantial if I could not avoid it all together. I enjoy seeing new firearms being produced, gives me more options. To each their own.

Got sidetracked with the rants by everyone else, how do you like it? How's the accuracy?
