Been there and done that...quite a few times. This is by no means the worst, but I just happened to remember to take pics of this one.
Yes, in about 3 weeks you won't be able to find a single roach. Thank goodness its vacant, that makes our job a lot easier.

I was drafted by my dad to conquer a mess like that back in the early 80's. Migrant farm workers with about 8 kids, had to go in and raise the windows to fire a heat fogger with malathion in it . Never saw so much crap , literally a few hundred dirty diapers in the room corners! You have my sympathy , how do people live like animals?

I've seen a guy slap a loaf of bread to make all the roaches scatter then made himself a sandwich. True story
