I shot a nice ram ( my first) this year and couldn't bring myself to roll it down the hill. His front shoulders were destroyed, but I kept the backstraps and had the hams ground into smoked sausage. Guess what? The sausage tastes just like deer sausage. Haven't tried the backstaps yet.

I shot a ewe this year, and its fantastic to eat. From the backstraps to the sausage made, its been good eating. I'd definitely shoot another. I won't toss my venison, but I'll definitely continue to eat aoudad anytime

Ate the last of my aoudad tonight!!!
Grilled back straps ... Great!! Cut hams into steaks, tenderized and pan fried... Great!! Ground into burger..... Great!!!! Stewed shoulder meat tonight with carrots, potatoes, mushroom, onion, garlic, and red wine..... BEYOND GREAT!!!
Aged, trimmed, seasoned, and cooked to perfection each time. I heard and read all the stuff and thought why not? Best decision I made.
Big ones line-up, little ones bunch-up

Haha, Dad - I think your credibility is shot on a subject pertaining to food if you have to preface it by sayin "if you grind it into hamburger, it's the best!". I also like how everyone thinks that a subject like this involving opinions, should be accepted as a fact. And if we don't, well then let's all get personal. God bless the Internet - where everyone can grow 10 inches every time we turn on a computer! I hate tomatoes, you are all stupid if you like them. The end.

As with everything, some like it and some don't. I'm not a huge fan of whitetail (a sin, I know), especially once I ate some of the exotic deer available.
As for Aoudad specifically, I had some jalapeno-cheese smoked sausage that was the best ever. The right grinding and spices make nearly any meat edible.

If you ever eat an aoudad that has been handled correctly you'll throw deer meat in the garbage. Throw deer meat or the knife you caped it with in the garbage? I'm confused. http://www.texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4907641#Post4907641Literally the nastiest meat on the planet.
Whatever you do don't cape one out with a knife you like. You'll have to throw it away cause the stench is virtually permanent.

Zebra is just like eating horse. Good stuff. Jack in the Box got caught selling it years ago. Many people never knew.

Grilled up some of the backstrap off an ewe my wife shot 2 weeks ago....Really good meat! I was surprised how tender the meat was...she really liked it as well.
