I shoot most hogs I see in the gut and let them run off. I don't mess with them and get tired fixing the messes they make. This is my question. Is it legal to catch hogs and sell them to the public? The reason I ask is because the other day, I was traveling and came across a busy cross road intersection and these fellows were selling them on the side of the road. The hogs seemed to be under the 120lb range. They were all alive and folks would stop and they would pull one out, hog tie it and sell it. Just curious if it's legal or not.

It is legal? Well that kinda sucks. Hope these folks don't buy them and take them home to raise them or release them. Hog problem is already bad enough with out giving them things a free ride somewhere.

I do not think it is legal. It is my understanding they can only leave dead! I have read the regs somewhere but I can't remember where.

It's illegal to sell feral hogs to the general public, but you can sell them to buying stations approved by the state.

Definitely not legal. You can sell to an approved buying station but not to the general public.

The better question is why are you not eating them yourself? Doesn't get much better than well prepared smoked hog (conversely, badly prepped wild hog can be so bad the dogs won't even eat it. Been there, done that as well). I have pretty much quit deer hunting since my kids prefer the taste of hog over venison. Also, other than being careful when processing, pretty much impossible to get any bad bugs from a smoked hog (nothing survives 20 hours in a smoker and 206 degree final temp ;-)

We eat beef. Raise our own cattle and butcher them. Hogs are a pain and do more damage than they are worth.

. That's we're you are mistaken, I don't hunt hogs, I just kill them. I guess you could say I'm an unethical killer? Then again if you kill anything , wouldn't that make us all unethical killers? I kill coons and don't eat them. I also kill coyotes and don't eat them. These are pest too.

I don't see a problem with shooting them and leaving them, but shoot to kill not wound and suffer. I mean what's the difference to you, other than moving the crosshairs a little left or right to hit the heart or head.
