I ordered a pistol for my wife from Buds. I chose the FFL from there list local to me. I had spoke to this FFL a few weeks before the purchase so I assumed everything would go fine. Well come to find out in between me speaking with them and ordering the pistol they decide not to keep there FFL and sent everything(paperwork) back to the ATF. So now my pistol is sitting at the address that no longer has an FFL.

What the heck am I or they supposed to do?

Yea, you're in a difficult spot. Maybe do a charge back on your CC and reorder the same gun? Talk to Bud's they might help you out on this.

This is a new one for me. Sucks because this was for my wifes birthday, which is tomorrow. Cant they just ship it to an FFL since its legal to ship a firearm to an FFL.

I called the ATF and it went straight to DC. I went through all of the prompts and finally got someone. I told him I had a question about a firearm transaction. First thing he said is" Im not trained in firearms. Thanks. Goodbye.

Definitely call Buds and explain the issue...they are good people...

I'd ask the former FFL just what the hell a non-FFL is doing accepting delivery of an FFL shipment in the first place and ask them how to fix it. There may be a law or two being violated here, as well. (1) taking delivery without a valid FFL and (2) maintaining possession without a valid FFL. The third violation might be when they try to do anything with it. I'm not even sure they can legally return it to Bud's without involving a third FFL. They should have refused delivery and notified you of the situation. Actually, what they should have done was stop accepting orders and make sure every transaction had been completed before surrendering their FFL. I'd dang sure get my money back from that former FFL if they received any, they put you in a bad situation. Sorry for your predicament. This could get interesting.

The crazy thing is USPS left the package at another residence down the road and someone other than the addressee sighed for it. It was the former FFL's parents house but even still.

This could get interesting.

You need to contact Buds and have them pick it up. Buds then will have to send it out to a new FFL. Buds has been through this before so they will know how to handle it. It might cost you a little shipping though.
I can assure you Buds doesn't want an undocumented gun floating around.

Can a licensed ffl just take the gun from where it was delivered and take it back to their place?

They said the ATF told them to mark the box return to sender. Make sure not to damage the box or even open it. So they werent even hearing the idea of having another FFL take delivery of the gun. I already had a FFL set up to handle it. But nope.

Wow this sucks all around! You had to show her a pic of what she'll be getting for her birthday? Ouch! The original FFL should be dealt with

They refused the shipment and it went back to Buds. Buds says I have to pay for shipping since it wasnt a preferred FFL.

Many people think Bud's is great but I'm not one of them. They are great if everything goes smoothly but hang you out to dry if there is a problem - which is when a good company steps up. I've gone in to the details of what happened to me before so I won't bore everyone again.

I still buy from Bud's if I can't find the firearm at a similar price somewhere else(I usually can). But when you buy from Bud's you need to check the model number they list against the model number on the manufacturers website.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

Very, very true. Their priority is their bottom dollar.

For what reason? Extra shipping costs?

Its not really worth it to pursue any further. Im just gonna go about my business and try to buy from forum members from now on. Trying to save a few bucks has been a real headache.

But you said the FFL was on their list.....Shame they don't honor their own misguided listing.

My philosophy is to use a FFL of my choice and I get to control the deal better than using an unknown entity. So much can co wrong in the internet transactions' world, it's best to secure every detail you can from beginning to end and hope. smile
