Remington 700 or savage trophy hunter 11/111 both 30-06. I've also heard mixed reviews on the accutrigger so would really like to know what you guys thought.

They're practically the same price but I believe the savage comes with a better scope and lately everyone's been telling me savage is the way to go now a days

Cant go wrong with either. The trigger on the Savage is better and they are more accurate than the rem but its hard to beat a good ol 700 for deer hunting and nostalgia.

BIL is right! I think the accutrigger is way overrated, it requires 2 triggers to be as good as 1 on a 700.

700. Not many gunsmiths building custom rifles on Savage actions now are there?

Whichever rifle "fits" you the best. The one that feels the best when your carrying it, shoulders quickly and comfortably that you can get a centered full sight picture quickly. IMO this criteria should be top priority followed by the right trigger. If the trigger needs to be modified you can get that done at a very reasonable price.

Never seen a savage go off when the safety was disengaged...
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

There are over 5,000,000 model 700 Remington actions in use today. How many accidental discharges have there been? How many times has a plaintiff been able to duplicate this accidental discharge in a court of law? Yes, Remington had a problem with some 80's era 700 trigger groups. These have since been replaced by better technology.
How many gunsmiths build custom rifles on Savage actions? Says it all right there.

700, hands down. I have a 30-06, 243, and 308. Anything that gets on the cross hairs with those guns drops.

Never seen a savage go off when the safety was disengaged... I've seen plenty that couldn't bc of broken firing pins....could be something to that.
