Jen....I know what you mean. I dont like looking at that type of stuff either. I was R R R REALL scared to take the first look after they removed my boot. I so up on pain meds though that I was like....EEHHHH could've been worse. Time for pics.

Having been through all kinds of medical stuff, my advice is do nothing except for what the Doctor says you can do. It really makes a Doctor mad when you screw up his hard work because you thought you could do something you were told not to do.
Next will be physical therapist, regardless of how smart we think we are they are better trained that we are. Do what he or she tells you to do and ask permission to do any extra.

Oh sweet, looks almost the same as mine did. Did you get some fluoroscope pics? The doc will have x-rays on the computer. Maybe you can get a copy of them. When my swelling finally went down, you could actually see the bar running down the outside of my leg an over the ankle. If you felt along the bar you can actually feel the screws too. Kinda creepy!

That's looks painful to say the least. Atleast you are alive and on the road to recovery now. When I had surgery on my hand they thought I was crazy because I didn't use the pain meds at all afterwards.

Glad to see things are improving faster than expected. As has been said Physical Therapy and Dr's orders are the key to your recovery speed and end result. Best of luck and don't let your frustration with the recovery pace drive you to do something you'll regret for years.

I almost had it VERY bad yesterday.
I lost my balance on the crutches and hopped n turned n danced across my bedroom before I was able to regain control and balance. The was more scary than the original fall itself.

I know its going to take time...a lot of time. Ive already written off the next 6 months to being very restrictive. But hey, I still gotta go to the potty.
Its just one my crutches caught the carpet and pulled me off balance.

The way it looks to me you should be getting around pretty good in 2-3 months!!! When do they plan to start you in rehab?

I really dont remember the timeline. I cant figure out why they tell you important stuff while you are still jacked up on meds.
Every 2 hours they would alternate morphine and hydrocodone. So REALLY??!!!!??? They expect you to remember something too.
All I know for sure is that Monday I get the staples removed and I will be on crutches a minimum of 3mo. I am not sure when therapy will start.

About two months into it, my cast came off for good, I had several. I went into a walking boot, but still had to use crutches. Believe it or not, I'm still supposed to where a lace up type brace if I'm going to do any strenuous type activity. I guess I'm just too old for the ligaments and what not to keep it stable good enough.
