RE: Kenneth1977 So what was he when he was 2.5 ? For you to know it was him ? Just wondering The daylight picture (only 2 or 3 exist) is the first picture we have of him, taken in July 2010 . You can see his junky browtines and his left G-2, which give him away. The other picture is from later that year, and there's no doubt about it being him. At some point during 2010, he was wounded; we had video of him limping. He developed a scar on his right midsection that he still had when we finally laid hands on him. Hard to tell what caused the injury. My guess is fighting. Each year, he would show up and be a little trashier, and each year, we chased a fart in the wind. Totally nocturnal; basically a ghost, but always thinking in the back of our minds that he’s out there somewhere. I thank God each day for my dad (and mom), who owns the land and have poured a lot of time, money and effort into creating a place to be proud of. I live in Sugar Land and will never take for granted that ranches like his don’t just happen on their own. I have a 6 year old son, and he’s chomping at the bit to squeeze off on his first deer, and thanks to my father’s diligence, he will be able to get his first buck on the same ranch I got mine 25 yrs ago. My dad posted last year about my nephew getting his first buck. What a great story that he’ll always remember. I am truly blessed by the Lord to have this sort of place to take my kids back to and teach them things they cant learn in the city.

Having said that, shot placement is key and there is only one level of dead. Us east Texans can't afford turquoise and elk ivories for jewelry. So we use hog tushes and coon peckers.

Glad someone finally killed that buck! Congrats, he's a stud! Tell dear ol' dad that those cows can take care of themselves, he should be hunting He's quick to let everyone know that "poor folks gotta work for a livin" and that I killed his buck "while he was providing for his family!" I think I've been permanently relegated to doe culler.

Well, since there are 2 13" tags filled, you have dedicated weekend laborers to take your place so you can go hunt.

Just wait until next week...you'll have all the help you could ever want. The 2nd generation of the Fruit of Your Loins will all be on hand to offer their assistance. Quote: "I swear they can ask more questions in 30 minutes than you could answer in 30 years!"

Thanks for all of the comments and "welcomes" from you guys. I've been getting a kick out of reading all of the old posts between Tres, pnh, rifleman, and others about this deer over the past 4 years. From what I can tell, there's been a lot of grab-a**ing on the internet. Now that he's dead, maybe some work can get done!

Thanks guys! I see that big rascal coming across that hay meadow about 10-12 times a day and productivity grinds to a crawl. Do you think its asking too much to try and incorporate him into our Christmas cards?? Photoshop??
