I've been lucky enough to kill two in my lifetime. How much was the reward? Both mine were $100.

cool deal man!!!!! I bet you saw that bling and shot ASAP!
I don't always shoot deer, but when I do, I prefer B&C's. I don't always shoot ducks, but when I do, I prefer banded ducks.

Been duck hunting for forty years. Never killed a banded bird only seen one banded bird taken in all those years.
Hearty congrats.

Very cool Question for you guys who've killed banded birds. When they were coming in, did you see the bands before you shot? Do you look for them when the birds are flying?

I have seen them before on sunny days in big groups, but usually no, you don't see them.
Not all double bands are reward, occasionally they will throw another band on a recapture, especially if it is two different agencies or studies that have caught him. I don't see any color on either of those bands, and rewards are usually brightly colored to help hunters make sure they don't over look them, as reward bands are designed to help estimate return rates.
Was it a reward band?
