I looked at one of these a couple years back..THey cost somewhere in teh 5-10k range new and i dont beleive you have to have any special permit to fly one, but there's just something about hanging from a parachute strapped to a go cart.

I would love to have one. The wing is a parachute so it's the safest way you could fly. They will fold up and fit in the trunk of a car. Great way to scout a property. I agree... a lot of the property I hunt could be scouted quickly from the air. I would have no problem utilizing one and personally see it as a better use of $5k than thermal... especially since most of the year I kill more pigs during the day than at night.

2 years ago 3 of those dudes came flying over the sunflower patch we were dove hunting on opening day. They obviously had to see us, but I guess they didn't mind the flak because we definitely didn't stop shooting.
Field they flew over to get to ours had hunters as well, don't know what they were thinking.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

ultra light I believe and yes as mentioned would be a great and cheap way to scout large properties. They run between 5-20k depending on size.
I think you still need a Private pilot cert to fly them but can fly on private land without notifying air traffic control. I could be mistaken though.

I have a fear of heights and flying.
I'm thinking "no" on that one.

I believe it depends on the weight and speed as to whether you need a license or not.
