Seeing that fatboy under the feeder with his antlers blocked by the feeder, he looked like a calf...I had to do a double take and look at feet and then saw the antlers barely below the feeder....friggin fat deer there!

Where in Central Texas is this.. looks like Brazos county.. It is Post Oak savannah, just a little further north. Like nav said, not enough yaupon to be in your area. Great genetics up there.

That is one hell of a buck!
And, the fact that you hadn't seen him since last Spring gives me hope a few bucks that I haven't seen all summer or fall are still around.

and he just went back to normal? You must have some type of crazy plant living out there... he was the first to shed an antler late in march and i havent seen him since then, as far as i know. but he had lost a bunch of that weight by the end of march when he shed and disappeared. He prolly swole up and popped like a balloon.
