On our place the deer were running all over the place yesterday morning. Nephews got 3 that I know of, we left before they brought them in.

We are still seeing tons of tracks, active scrapes and rubs, but very little daytime activity. My father n law seen a good buck yesterday evening, but no shot. I think the mature bucks have been locked down with does the last week....on our place. The buck he saw last night wasn't chasing, but didn't hang around to eat. Probably looking for his next doe.....

I don't see too many acorns left laying around and the grass is brown. I've been seeing deer just no mature bucks running around. Really don't even have anything special on any of my game cams. I'm hoping the next cold spell will get the big boys moving.

I'll be on my wheat field this evening. Not expecting a whole lot. Might shoot some more does if they show up.

I didn't see anything after light this morning. I walked out a diff way and found a fresh rub line. Also found a bunch of 5 - 10 in red oaks I may try to transplant to my yard.

Off topic but does anyone have any experience digging up small oaks and transplanting them?I've planted a lot off store bought 5 and 10gallon trees but never dug up small ones in the wild. Wonder how long the tap root is on a oak under 10 in tall is.
