Christmas is coming up and I live in a "if it looks awesome, it must work awesome" type of house. What is the most tactical/cool Ar you know of? Preferably in 308/300blk/6.5/6.5 calibres. No short barrel, but suppressor ready (next year's idea) (shhhh)

? well I don't know what you call tactical but it sounds like your just looking for a range toy. I will have you know before hand that what you are considering will not be cheap in any form or fashion and by cheap I mean even the low end tactical AR-10 is going to be around or over 1000 and again we are talking low end. If you step out of the AR-10 world you could get a Springfield Armory M1a that would run you anywhere from 1200-2000 (I don't know what the current price is new,but the 2000 dollar ones are the ones with the bells and whistles), If you truly have the money to blow you could buy an FN FAL but now your talking 1500 and up plus magazines are crazy high and are uncommon. Not to mention the price of a box of quality .308; I don't mean to burst your bubble and don't get me wrong, I love big guns as much as the next guy but from a practical standpoint I would just buy an AR-15 in either 556 or 7.62x39 and if you didn't go that route you could get an AK or an AR in .22 caliber. All three of those options are much more reasonable and magazines are widely available for much cheaper. The .22 idea seems dumb at first but think about it, you can buy a M&P 15-22 for 400 on a good day (the gun has the feel of an AR), a slidefire stock for 200-300 which will basically give it full auto capabilities (seriously look up M&P15-22 slidefire stock on youtube), a 50 round drum for 40-60 bucks, and a bucket of 1400 .22LR for 59.99 (when they can be found in stock which isn't impossible, however, currently can be tough. All together you have as close as you can get to a machine gun without blowing literally tens of thousands of dollars, it will have very little recoil, you can shoot it all day (literally, i have and continue to do this often) for less than one hundred dollars and all together you would have only spent roughly 800-900 dollars. Now again I am talking about a range toy here because that is what I am assuming you are referring to. If this isn't what you are looking for please just let me know... I have LOTS of ideas in my mind.

Range toy/hog shooter, was thinking of ar15 style, just a modern, mean looking rifle that will have people at the range saying "Dang, where'd you get that"

I guess what I'm meaning is a sturdy ar15 in 308 or a caliber of that nature, that I can add bells and whistles too

the AR-15 platform will support a lot of calibers, 5.566/.223, 6.8, 6.5, .300 BLK, 7.62x39, .458 socom, .50 Beowulf, ect, .308 is not one of them.

The AR-10 platform will shoot/is made for .308.

just FYI

This is the gun I put together that I use for hog hunting. PSA lower and 6.8 upper. Illuminated reticle SWFA scope, Hogzilla green light, Timney trigger, Magpul ACS-L stock, Midwest Industries free float rail. 140 grain Berger VLDs can be loaded to fit in PRI mags and are hell on hogs.
If you're thinking about a suppressor, you would probably want to go with .300 BLK instead of 6.8.
I have an LR-308 too but I prefer the AR-15 platform because my LR-308 is very heavy with a scope on it. It's also much cheaper to build an AR-15. 6.8 and .300 BLK can also achieve full velocity in a much shorter barrel than a .308.

Which 7.62? There is a 7.62x51 which essentially is the 308 and a 7.62x39 which is the AK round. The x39 would work in the AR15 platform, but I've heard a lot of them having feeding issues. You have to get the correct mags to feed the x39 correctly. I think the AICS mags work great.

Ok, I'm thinking a 300 blackout, that a suppressor can (will) be added to.

Sorry about confusion with the 308vs7.62x51vs7.62x39, I'm (obviously) not the expert on Round types...

AAC makes a perfect 16" .300blk suppressor ready rifle. The quality is that of spikes tact. I owned the 9" upper and that was real nice.
