Friday afternoon I had crawled up in my stand and about 3:30pm heard a herd of my cousin's cows come running over the hill to my right. I looked around as the herd came running towards my stand, then when they were about half way down the hill, I noticed why they were running. The calves were chasing a little spike buck and he was in the lead. At this point I looked to see if he had a red nose just practicing and warming up, but no. I grabbed my camera and started taking photos as the little spike literally ran right in front of my stand as you can see the shadow if it in this photo.


They continued out to my right and finally slowed down.


As the mommas caught up with their calves, the little deer turn to face his fate


Then he decided to show he wasn't going to be pushed around anymore.




I was cracking up watching him headbutt those cows...He definitely earned my respect.

very cool! I enjoyed watching a young buck fawn imitating a spike when he chased does around the feeder. That little booger was picking them up and putting down trying to stay the pace!
