Yep. The first "real freeze" will take em out. Not much you can do but bear it and hope for no sting. BTW careful with the African bees

Yeah, wasps like to hide in the rafters of our blind and when it gets warm they fly around in the blind. Also, they like to hide in the metal tubing of the tripods.

They tend to do that this time of the year, especially during cold spells...they aren't trying to nest but are trying to find someplace warm! I've seen them ball up into an orange size clump to stay warm until the sun comes out the next day. In my experience, they're usually not interested in stinging unless you stir them up.

Seems like they are worse this year than years past.
I don't smoke ,so I can't say but I highly doubt it. I do know a loud fart works! I think they like the smell plus I guess they think it's a buck grunt. _________________________

They were always bad when I hunted in Atascosa in the 80's right before the first 2 or 3 cold fronts. I got in my blind one morning after killing them all the night before and there were 100's of them in there. Go to Pleasanton and get you a Prozap no pest strip to hang in your blind. It will not keep them out but will kill them over night if the blind is sealed pretty tight. I have used them for the last 20+ years.

From the expert advice on THF we bought Pro Zap Insect Guard strips. Best deal going.

In a pinch take a can and put some old rags in it then soak it in diesel and leave the can in the blind. My Dad used to use that with some success.

Spraying wasp is great entertainment when the hunting is slow. On a cold morning I used take out my pocket knife and cut them in half. It gets really exciting when the sun warms up the east wall of the blind and them things get much quicker.

Before the season put bug/wasp bombs in your blinds Gezzz Won't do any good in South Texas since they move to the blinds to hiberante with colder weather approaching. You would have to bomb everyday for a while.

Get an empty windex bottle mix half water and half dawn dish soap, put it on stream, pretty fun to shoot at them, and will kill the crap out of them.

Check this guy out... I cut him in half and it started climbing the wall. He made it all the way up to the window without his abdomen and then I flicked him off the sill.

Worst I have seen in Llano in years. Must have killed literally 1,000 of them. Couple nests inside a BBQ pit that must have had 250 each. Big red ones. Didnt get in blinds. One giant nest under one though. Just hammered them with the 20 ft spray.

Worst I have ever seen this year. I was bow hunting out of a tree stand and there were hundreds around the trees. They were not aggressive I guess they were looking for hollow spots to get in to stay warm. I am definitely ready for a good freeze !

We have never had them in north Texas until this year. Luckily I missed opening weekend so someone killed them all for me!

Wasps are my enemies. I don't like them and they don't like me, so it's best if we avoid one another. However, this is virtually impossible during early season as they frequent my box blinds. Best solution I've found is Insect Foggers. Set them off a few days before you plan on hunting - the fumes will get in all the cracks of the blind where wasps bury themselves to stay warm and it keeps them out for a good while. Follow up with standard Wasp Spray to keep others from setting up nests in your stand. Also if you hunt in East Texas tree lizards make for great roommates. I've found that blinds that hold lizards usually hold very few wasps, if any. Remember that the next time you're harassing them during a boring sit. From the expert advice on THF we bought Pro Zap Insect Guard strips. Best deal going. Will have to look into this, thanks.
