And the law does not allow you to use a crossbow DURING ARCHERY SEASON if you are disabled or have a dissability... they are legal for any game all other months of the year,,,

I agree that one of the hard parts of bow hunting is drawing without being noticed, and if thats what gives you a rush go for it! But on the other hand If you enjoy hunting with a crossbow, thats your right too, and imho theres nothing wrong with that. When I bow hunt I shoot traditional equip. but I don't have anything against the wheelbow shooters , that in my mind would be kind of the same thing. We need more people to get involved in hunting, especially with the uncertainty the election has brought us, so lets all act as one and embrace each others right to hunt with various methods.

And when the anti's get done with us we may be arguing about something like, bricks vs. rocks!

We do need to quit the petty arguements about seasons and equipment and concentrate on banning together for the coming fight for our rights!

Ihave never understood the mentality of some peoples hatred of crossbows, that said i dont use one and prefer my compound anyday but can you imagine what a stink would be if we told all gun hunters they had to use muzzeloaders instead of all the different caliber rifles there are? Crossbows are no more accurate than a compound and dont shoot any farther and as stated earlier they are noisier. I would love to see crossbows legal for archery season for my 70yr old dad and my daughter to use while the weather is warm cause neither will hunt in the cold weather and my dad cant pull back a bow. We need to get over the bias against crossbows and get anybody we can into bow hunting!

JIMBO YOU CAN GET YOUR DOC TO GIVE U A LETTER AND YOU CAN USE A CROSSBOW. IT IS AS EASY AS GETTING A HANDICAP PARKING PERMIT. ALMOST ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK.

Iguess i could put a drawlock on a bow for the wife and daughter but thats not the point, the point is there is really no advantage to a crossbow so why ban em? If was a gun during bow season i see the dilema but its a crossBOW.

The same discussion has been going on in several states recently. I personally hunt with; long bow, compound bow, crossbow, muzzleloader, rifle, and shotgun. I enjoy all of the seasons and understand the differences between the equipment and the game patterns through the seasons. I hunt family land in Texas and I hunt here in Florida where I live.

We recently went through the same debate in Fl and for once I actually agree with the state's decision on the matter. The state made a one week crossbow season. It starts at the end of archery and is followed by muzzleloader. Basically, they took the last week of a month long archery and made it archery/crossbow. We have an early rut that happens in my area during this time. During archery it is long,recurve or compound only. During crossbow, you can use archery equipment or crossbow so it doesn't cut out archery. During muzzleloader it is archery, crossbow, and muzzleloader and the seasons role on.

I will say that in my experience it is FAR easier to take game with a crossbow. It is essentially a short range rifle.
The only real similarities between a bow and crossbow is the use of an arrow which kills by massive cutting rather than hydrostatic shock, and the ranges. Max safe range for a clean kill with a crossbow is 60 yards in my book. I won't go past 50 with my compound or 25 with my long bow. I regularly use my crossbow during general to take hogs/coyotes/coons/and such so as not to spook the deer off the blinds and feeders. This is not an elitist perspective. Just the facts of my experience. I do think that crossbows have a place. Just not next to a bow.
