Originally went out for Whitetail on opening day and had this Axis buck come through a wooded with a couple of Axis does. Just about a 75 yard shot with my Remington 5R. We have them come in occasionally off an adjacent property that borders the Perdanalis River. This buck went 31 inches and is still in full velvet.

Congrats, that dude has some length on the brows. That will make a great mount.

Congrats on a nice buck, he will taste much better than your intended quarry. Baker

Nice axis, exception brows and nice even cottles. Good choice, I'd take an axis over WT any day of the week, and twice on Sunday. smile

Great axis!

Beautiful axis. I'm curious how you plan to mount it... Or if you will mount it I guess. I just shot a similar looking one at 27" in velvet and began to realize some taxidermy places can't handle it.

Mine is done now, took it to Lindley's taxidermy in Harper. The guy who picked it up for me said it turned out great. But I haven't seen it yet. So hoping for the best. They used methanol to treat the antlers.
