I only got to hunt opening evening and Sunday morning but it sucked so I didn't stay till Sunday eveing. Rundown
- saw only a handful of deer
- only heard one shot out of two hunts in wide open country
- Didn't see one truck deer from Abilene to Mckinney

Just heard from one at our lease in Haskell. Not too much shooting going on around our place, only 4 shots heard in the last 2 days. He did see a nice one Friday while checking his feeder but never saw him again. You live in McKinney BIL?

Daughter # 3 and I guided. Saw quite a few young bucks (2.5 and 3.5) and very few does. Saw one 10 point that couldn't have been over 4.5 with G-3s that were at least 12 inches long. Eyeball score on him was mid 140's.

Only hunting does on this ranch this year. Ended up with 1 doe that field dressed at 65 lbs. Mostly it was too many bucks near the feeders and too hot.

Waiting for cooler weather and hoping for rain.

Well friday we went to our church for trunk and treat. Slept in on saturday and went and had Mexican food for my youngest birthday. Watched TT kick the snot out of the shorthorns. Woke this morning and went to church. After church went for Chinese food. Saw a bit of the cowgirls getting whopped and here I am

Opening Weekend brief description, how was it....

Well, I got back from Utopia on Weds, and back into work Friday night, Saturday night, tonight and tomorrow night.

In other words, my long change ended and I'm back to work for three weeks.

I won't get to stands until 11/22, but that's fine with me. Let everybody else shoot and run the deer into my area like usual.

That's the one drawback to my shift work schedule...on the other hand, when I go each time...I get to hunt for 2 weeks at a time

I got a nice axis last week, so I gave opening weekend a miss. I did see two decent bucks and several does being dropped off for processing at the Farmer's Market in Boerne (was dropping by to pick up my axis meat)....

About the same south of Nolan. Saw a lot of deer and heard a few shots, but no big deer on the ground. A buddy at the lease shot at a big 9 point, but missed. Did see one good deer in a truck at the Dairy Queen in Clyde on the way home. All in all not a bad opener with the 80 degree temps.

Below average deer sightings, too warm and very dry in East Texas

Runnels county, heard a few shots from the neighboring area. Saw a few doe, and 2 bucks, 8 points and young spike. Called it a weekend after the Saturday evening hunt.

Two does shot on our lease with one taken by my 13 YO son. His 9th deer and good shot too. The other doe was the first one ever taken by another hunter. Too warm but a good weekend with my son and buddies. I'd do it again.

North Central near St. Jo, no deer ,wasps, hot dry,and the loudest cowboys working cattle ever on the place across the county road. Left the gate at 6:30 pm and nearly got run over by a very large heavy main beam buck at 6:34 on the main road.

Pretty good hunting in Young county. Saw lots of small to average bucks and one pretty good would be good 10 pt with 2 broke tines. All small bucks were chasing the does and giving them heck.

Didn't see a deer all weekend; heard 7 or 8 shots. Nice and warm in Montague County.

Able to take a doe, else no others sighted. Checked the game camera and noted a lot of pre-season activity. Hopefully, things will pick up with cooler weather.
