Have had my oldest daughter in the blind since she was four. She shot at her first deer when she was six and missed. Here she is two years later with her first deer she shot last Saturday. It is well worth the time of taking them when you get to experience that first deer. Way more fun than you just hunting deer.

Mine started going with at 4. As others have stated it depends on the child and you. Are you willing to sacrafice some comfort and quietness to bring them along. Since mine was 4, I have only taken one trip without him.

I wouldn't trade the time we get to spend together for anything. Sure, I've missed opportunities and had frustrations along the way, but you can never get that time back. Not ever and it goes by faster and faster everyday.

He's 9 now and took his first deer Saturday. I don't regret bringing him along and teaching him what it's all about.

I started hunting when I was 3. I started my son And 2 daughters at 3. They are all accomplished hunters. Some of the best times me kids and me have shared have been while hunting. IMO he's ready to hunt when UR ready to take him. Just take things to occupy him. A sleeping bag is good idea. And I got my kids there own binoculars to look around with. Limit the food/drink intake to avoid the bathroom issue. And try not to drag on slow hunts for hours to keep kids from loosing intrest. Good luck and enjoy UR new best huntin partner.
