 Legal to hunt on padre island?

Is i leaal to hunt on South Padre Island or North, on the west side to duck hunt the bay? I know it is legal on the other side of the bay as long as you arent standing on the refuge..

I've found decoys and empty hulls and brush blinds out there fishing but I couldn't tell you if it was legal, I've never tried it.

You can't hunt salt water on both side unless I THINKnyour with a Captian, in that case he has to have a permit...again I think on the capt part. I know fishing is that way

You can't hunt salt water on both side unless I THINKnyour with a Captian, in that case he has to have a permit...again I think on the capt part. I know fishing is that way Am I reading this right, your saying you can't fish on the backside of the island without being with a captain with a permit?

Why will this get ugly ? im NOT being sarcastic either..and Im not talking about hunting the gulf side for ducks although i would like to try it, if legal. Im asking about accessing and hunting the bay from the island rather than the mainland.

If you pay some one(capt) they can only take you if they have a permit. you can do it self guided, but lic guides need permit for fishing.

If you have boat though the other side of the bay has better hunting, which to get there you will have to launch from island anyway.

Has anyone done any duck scouting on marine creek lake, opposite side of the college? I haven't had a chance yet to scout.

The back side of the island, south padre at least, is mostly sand with very little vegetation. There's never many birds back there anyways besides the birding center where you can't hunt. I do a lot of fly fishing back there past the last access and I hardly see many birds at all.
