After some straight line winds hit the ranch, several of our blinds got knocked over. It was time to replace them anyways. With the help of Misfire( member on this forum) and my father, progress is being made. My dad had built the base, but we ended up redoing it due to the lack of supports. Misfire, who has a framing history, layed out the walls and started some of the cuts. Dad and I finished assembling the walls today. Sure is nice having a Paslode gas powered nailer.

Here is the base after be rebuilt it( decided to build something different then a square box)

Here is the assembly of one of the 6 walls

All the walls complete

We are probably going to put a 8/12 pitch on the roof and insulate it with R19 in the walls. It will also have shooting benches around the windows. We are going to design the roof on the 20th. Everyone is short on time. I'll keep the thread updated as we made progress.

That's more antler than I've seen all year. The biggest buck I have seen in person is a 7 point. I sat out this past weekend 3 times. I got skunked 2 of the 3. The one afternoon that I saw deer consisted of 2 does and 1 fawn. HF's suck! grin

I built one like that a few years ago with foam insulation, plywood outside, and OSB inside over the foam. Better have a tractor with a bucket to move the thing!

I have to ask why 8/12 pitch? Seems like it would be easier to go flatter.

It was a thought. We will decide on a pitch on the 20th.

As far as moving it.... It will never be moved. Once we put a blind up, it stays smile

Closer to the barn and the food plot? If I recall, a cull buck and a yote got a dirt nap in that area a couple years ago. grin

It will in the same spot as the old blind. Right on the edge of the food plot. My brother put out a double bull today to use until we get the blind finished

Misfire came over to the house today to help me with the roof. Actually, he did all the work, I just was an extra hand. We used the blind base as a template to prefab the roof. Ended up going with a 12/6 pitch.
