Off to a slow start this morning. When I walked in, the deer where already at the feeder and I ended up pushing them off. No blowing and carrying on like yesterday, but never like to push em.

It is dead calm this morning. Can't say I remember hunting Kansas and being able to say that, but it is this morning.

I heard an animal pass through the woods to the north of me, but never saw it so I decided it was a deer...and probably a big one

Had a little 6 pointer wonder under the stand, but he moved on through and didn't want to stick around to keep me occupied until is great-grandad showed up.

Three doe are behind me in the field and a wood pecker is trying his damnedest to get some elusive insect out of the tree I am sitting in...sure glad I only had one beer last night.

No, but I got excited there for a minute. Had three more doe come down the tree line to my north. They turned south and headed right for me. Got my bow up, latched the released and waited. The ended up passing about 5 yards from the base of the tree and continued south instead of cutting through in my shooting lane...still awesome. This is why I hunt

And this is why people say you shouldn't have a damn phone in the stand. 3 more just came in, again to the west where I can't shoot. Have to admit, they snuck up on me...One turned just as she got to the road, big dang doe. Got the draw, she munched some leaves, and then turned as I was applying pressure to the trigger...have to admit, I am shaking a little

Getting good action now. Hope tiny walks out and gives you a shot opportunity.

Wow. What a morning. Think I found the deer highway. Had three more doe go by, doe and small four point, then three really nice bucks.

9 pointer, 8 pointer and a 10 pointer. 10 pointer was the only mature one and was border line shooter. They went to my West again, but moved in just enough I could have had a shot. Let him walk...will post the TC pics of him later, but snapped a quick one with the phone and the doe that came in after

And RM, you can tell STX I am hunting the woods and all the deer are in the field!!! Edge of the field, but still.

I am going to have to turn this stand so I can shoot back west

Best of luck to you and hope you take a monster! Have to admit that I am a little jealous but so goes life. I had a chance to hunt Kansas this year but thought better of spending the $2,500.00. This post is making me get the fever for next weekend really bad! Keep it coming and once again good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! I only asked because I grew up 23 miles from Coffeyville, KS in NE OK...it was important because when I was 18 I couldn't buy beer in OK BUT could in KS.

Still hunt family ranch in that area of OK.

Small world, I went to Coffeyville Community college for a year before going to Pitt. Lot of people from Texas come up to hunt SE Kansas for deer. Several business's in town (Neodesha) kept checks from some of the celebrities like Danny White of the Dallas Cowboys.

Truth be told, there is a lot of great public land in the area that is FREE to hunt. A buddy killed a 160" buck from public 2 years ago. IT is 5 hours of driving from Frisco, Tx to Independence, Ks. Tag is about $400 and Hotels are very reasonable. A group of 4 guys could probably come up 3 times for 5 days hunts and spend less $1000k for everything (tag, gas, food and hotel room).

Of course, that is if you come to hunt....if you come to party, it is going to be a lot more expensive....

We go East out of Whichita...look at the map. It is East of center and it is South of center...therefore it is SE Kansas!!!!
