on another whirlwind adventure I posted some of the pics from the TC's in the photo section. We are both pretty fired up after going through the cameras. I am just finishing the last of the SD cards and he has already crashed. Three more hunters are coming up to join us, but they won't be here until Saturday evening. I will try to keep you posted on the hunts and hopefully on the success. We have a full season ahead, but I have no issue ending my Kansas season early on a great Kansas buck For those that care or will ask, we are on a lease. The lease consist of 3 properties, with 2 hunters on each. One is a little over 1k acres with about 4-500 huntable acres. The back land is high country with open grass lands. The lower country is where we hunt and it is made up of fields, planted in soy beans this year, and creeks. Only tree cover is around the creeks and river. The south property is about 220 acres and has no agriculture. It has a creek that intersects it East to West. East of the property is a corn field and West is "open country" with some creek and tree lines. Basically, a natural filter. The last property is close to 400 acres. It has a field with Brom grass in it, a creek that runs on the East side and the south side has a fence line at the base of a large hill that has a solid tree line. Stinky (Ramsey) hunts on the last property with one other hunter. That hunter will not be here this weekend. My property and the South property is hunted by 4 guys. We have "our stands" and two are "designated" to a property, but we have an agreement that we can hunt each others stands. The property to the south is where the biggest buck posted in the photo section is located. Those hunters were not able to leave when we were, so we will not be hunting the area that he is currently residing. There are plenty of great bucks in the area and after the drought, this year is a relief. There is a noticeable increase in antler size, even in the younger bucks. I took a nice cull last year and looking to take my largest bow buck this year (which won't take much ) Stinky is looking to take his first deer with a bow and we are hoping it is a Kansas stud!!! Stay tuned and wish us luck. (I will probably try to keep from posting many pics on this thread because it makes it harder to load in the thread in the field. And for you guys that think it is stupid to have a phone in the stand...well, I am not one of them )

Good luck Trex and Stinky. Hope y'all get a stud and look forward to following the hunt. Make sure you stay latched on to those tall swaying Kansas trees.

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Heck of an opening morning so far. It's around 72 degrees and wind is about 15-20. Think there is a chance of rain, but it doesn't look like it right now. Got out early this morning and the moon is FULL!!! First deer of the season came in well before light and with the moon, he was easy to see. He is one of the younger bucks with the split G2's that we have plenty of pictures of. He walked in and out his head down, seemed like he was planning on camping out for the morning. Well...like hunting goes, anything can happen. Last night when we pulled cards, I noticed the pin that holds the spinner on had sheared and the plate had come off the timer box. No big deal, I will fix it tomorrow after picking some stuff up in town. Chummed a little and went to the next one. Well...turns out the noise a feeder makes without a spinner is pretty annoying and will scare the betchesus out of a deer. He bolted into the soy beans and has yet to be seen again Glad I got to see him, but would have liked to see him in better light. Very nice buck, but wouldn't have pulled the trigger on him. Have had 4 doe pass by in the soybeans and looks like 3 doe and their yearling are working up the draw to me now. Hope Stinky is having a good hunt.

Doe and their yearling wondered on by through the draw. Two more have come in and are at the corn. And a black squirrel is getting a little curious...

It is taking an enormous amount of restraint... If it was later in the season, it would be a different story

You'd think they'd let you kill a deer under the harvest moon? Smelly have one of them old school phones that can't find a signal?
