His face and ears look really old. Body is in pretty good shape.

I'll go 6.5 this fall.

Post-mature. If I had to put a number on him it would be 7.5 to 8.5.

For all the people guessing... and im gonna say guessing 6.5, 7.5, 8, 9, and 10, where are you getting the differentiation from? Or are you just guessing?

I am saying 5.5 looking a a few things like hips, neck and long noes ( face ).He's getting some gray on his back it look like and hes a fighter with that top of the ear missing. But it might wouldn't surprise me if he was only 4.5 if he was in a place where there wasnt much rain this year .

Im gonna be the odd ball here and say a healthy 3.5. Part of me wants to go with most everyone on here. But I see no calloused knees or sway back of an older deer.

And it wouldnt surprise me if I am way off without more photos.

Id say 8yr old. possibly older.

There are some features that show his age past 6.. mainly his face has a lot of fill and age to it..his neck meets way low into his sholders and even has a arch in his back with a steep slope in his hip... his hocks are also rubbing together just trying his best to hold hiself up. IMO a 6 yr old will have plenty of age features in his face, brisket, neck etc... but should still be holding up better as far as structure instead of looking as if hes hurting to even stand up... and this is also just going off one pic so nothing is a for sure thing

I crack up at these age and score threads! So many people throwing out numbers that claim to know even with ONE horibble bad angle picture. Thats why this photo section is going to be flooded with 115 inch 2 year olds opening weekend. With that said... who cares how old because 80% are going to shoot anyways!

I could put up pictures of deer that would cause 90% of people, yourself included, to absolutely air-ball in guessing the age. Not all deer look the same at various points in their respective lives.

That's the whole fun of it. Are we supposed to just not address anyone any time they ask for OPINIONS (note: not facts) on how old a deer is? Should everyone just refuse to answer any time someone wants a best guess on age?

Taking yourself way, way too seriously.

Or better yet:

"How old do you think this deer is?"

"I'd say between 2.5 and 8."

I have scene a lot of deer in my life time more than most here due to my grand parents having a deer processing place here in alvarado and can say with seeing all those deer and aging hundreds of them over the years i have not scene many that older than 5.5 to 6.5 most are between 3.5 to 4.5
I would bet to say that most of the deer in texas are not going to more than 7.5 but thats just my thought due to so many hunters now days .

This. Typical low fence/small acreage texas deer don't see the other side of 5.5 very often under even light to moderate hunting pressure in my experience.

Now with large tracts of land in south texas, deer can really get old. Deer are kind of like people in respect to how they age. I've seen some post mature 7.5 year old + deer grow a bigger set of antlers than they had any year before, while some deer really head downhill after 5.5-6.5.

4.5 to 5.5. Leaning more towards 5.5.
