Oh yea, I love it. I used to Canoe places on that lake as a kid. Ran Yo-Yos too. I had to use a compass to keep from getting lost. Thank God we have GPS now. Every year I consider taking my kayak out there around December or February to fish for Pickerel, but never seem to make it. Like I say every year, maybe this year I will

WOW!! some of u duck hunters are awesome . some of u duck "so called hunters" could use some help. how do u enjoy the outdoors being so damn mean and selfish? there are a few in every croud i guess, but 50%???? thats just wrong. he didnt ask for GPS cords. he just asked for a little help on a lake he has never been to. what happened to sharing and enjoying being outdoors? its all about "MINE MINE MINE!!!" sounds like a bunch of damn selfish kids. u r the reason i dont like to lease. cause there is always some stingy a-hole that thinks this way. the guy just asked for some general help on a lake he has never been on. he is going to celebrate his anniversary and yall prolly ruined it for him. thats major

Wow,I posted this last week and went hunting for the weekend and wasn't able to check my post. Such a plethora of responses and opinions here I don't know where to start.
As I stated in my post I am new to duck hunting so I turned to my favorite place to talk to all my hunt'n buds. I was not aware of the duck hunters secret society so I just posted my question. As much as I understand why you think like this I don't agree. I'm not going to give my exact spot up either. However, to suggest to me that I'm in the wrong by posting the name of a lake, a rather large lake, is a quite perplexing. So there appears to be two types of duck hunters. Those that share and those who do not. I will be one of hunters that will share information.
Sniper John. I'm glad I was the able to manifest the conversation you've been looking forward to all year and agree with you.
And to all those persnickety duck hunters "Duly Noted"
BTW, The place I went hunting for deer this weekend was a place that a buddy of mine has, he put me on the deer. Thats how hunting works. He told me exactly where to go and would have given me GPS if I asked.

I don't hunt public lands anymore so I can't relate to some of the views here.
My only other comparison is the fishing forums. Those guys share all kinds of location information with each other.

yea but fishing is a year round thing, and there's always a way to catch fish no matter what time of year. Duck season is only 3 months long and everyone wants to hunt as much and shoot as many ducks as they can.

Maybe duck hunters are just a different breed than anyone else. I really could care less about who hunts where. I don't hunt any one lake for an entire season. They all have their 'hot' times, and they all have their slow times. I usually hunt about 3 different lake through a season, but I have several that I choose from. Cedar Creek, Fork, Whitney, Bardwell, Navarro mills, Tawakoni. Just to name a few.

I use to live about 15 miles from Navarro Mills, and about 20 miles from Bardwell. I did not know that anyone duck hunted there. I will have to try my luck next time I go to see my Mom. Thank you FowlDreams. By you just naming the lake, you have made my day. You have also contributed to getting someone else interested in another outdoor activity (always deer hunted, but never tried waterfowl). Also, I will have to buy shells to hunt these ducks. I will also have to buy the Federal Stamp. From what I can tell, alot of the money from those two items, goes directly back into the hunting society or land conservation. And to think this all came back to just naming a lake. You see how you have made my day and put a little money back into hunting. Again Thanks you FowlDreams

If youre calling me mean and selfish for expressing my opinion on whether or not people should name lakes you can kiss my butt.

I hunted there last year and it was good, it was late when the birds came and we moved out of back waters to open water.

But most of those fishermen catch and release. There is no catch and release when a shotgun is involved.

No Sir, I was not calling you mean or selfish for expressing your opinion on whether or not people should name lakes. I was always taught to help someone out when you get a chance, because one of theses days, it will come back to you. I see your point when you busted your butt to find a honey hole and you mention it on the web and someone is sitting in your spot the next morning. Thats how people get @$$ whoopings. But I also dont see why he was eaten out for naming a lake. It seems to me that the man was just trying to gain a little knowledge. If I'm out of line, I apologize.

Much of what we are encountering is population changes. Take Denton County which includes Lakes known to have lots of public hunters these days.
1980 143,126 1990 273,775 2000 432,976 2006 582,200 2007 599,350
I don't know of any illegal aliens that hunt ducks or frequent a waterfowl forum! Sorry for that comeback John, but I couldn't pass on it. Now if they do check these forums and see the lakes named, you can forget about getting into any of the public or city parks on the weekends
"Daddy!, that big woman we saw at Walmart, her belly looked like a busted can of bisquits!"
