Hunted around Stephenville this a.m. Five guys, left the field all with limits by 8:30. The most doves I have seen in a long time. Hope they are still around in the morning!

Only 11 between me and the boy, heading to Weatherford in the morning. Didn't see 30 birds all morning. Good day with my son, bad day with the birds.

Awesome day. Should have limited quickly but.... I didn't. By the end my shot was pretty on but I think the shock of so many birds threw my concentration off. We were hunting a sunflower field my friend let us hunt. The sunflowers are wild on a wheat field and were poppin. There were bands of dove coming in so fast that I could keep the shells in the gun. Amazon seeing them come in like that. Didn't lose one bird. All the family were out. Wife's first hunt for dove, first hunt as an adult and first hunt with me. Plus she bagged 5! I bagged 10 should have been a limit but we'll let them rest for a week and go back.

Would hunt it in the morning again however got a flat tire on the way back. Suck. And I couldn't get it changed today cause they had a line.

All in all this was an awesome day my whole family will remember. Have to make a family tradition out of it. Awesome new field to hunt as well!!!

Birds were flying high and fast this afternoon in Merkel. Amazing how quick they learn. Got3 eurasian and one morning dove. Shot 15 times. Not bad for the 1st time in 10 yrs or more. I forgot how frustrating it is to hunt on my little acrerage. Can only shoot a couple of directions.

I think I should have set up in my front yard. They were flying to my yard trees instead of the cattle pens like they have been the last week. Moderate amount of birds. It didn't help that here was no one else nearby shooting, they didn't stay stirred up enough. About 30 birds came into my trees after sundown as I was walking back to the house. Lotta fun. Going to let them rest a few days and try it again later in the week. Only saw one whitewing this PM.

Oh, and when I cleaned the dove, the eurasians were eating some cracked corn from somewhere, but the mourning dove was full of doveweed seed, which is a very good thing.

lot of shells but only 6 birds... was some tough hunting at the public land

Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

I shot half a box of 20 ga and got 2 birds. the place i was hunting is very small and has an even small window to shoot in if we had free range I would have easily got a limit.

Hunted a tank on the deer lease in Montague and most dove I have ever seen there. Saw a few hundred. Skies opened up about 7 pm nonstop. 2 of us hunting and 2 easy limits in the evening. Horrible shooting though but fun. Ran into JJ at the DQ. Sounds like they did very well too.

Tons of birds out East, Started hunting a pond around 7:30, got a couple of birds by 8:00 then after 8 large groups started coming in and finished my limit within about 10 minutes. For the next hour watched tons of birds fly in to water.

Afternoon was much better than morning. 11 total and a box of shells. Switch choke from IC to Light Modified. Made all the difference. However, it also could have been the mo-jo decoys. I've never used dove decoys before, but now I love them.

God bless John Wayne!
