Yes, I am aware of this, I guess I just saw the recent posts were from yesterday and did not notice the earlier posts were a month old now. I have kept up to date with the happenings as they occurred, and I am blown away more people are not upset or even aware of the proposed changes. Does the Montgomery County sheriff sign Form 4s? I may have to move to the Woodlands... Yes for supressors and SBRs, no for full autos.

Here's another question: Do you have to reside within the jurisdiction of the CLEO that signs your Form 1 or Form 4?

I believe if you have two homes in different counties it has to be the primary residence.

I'm not an attorney. Yes I believe you do. Well, after conducting some furious research last night I'm not sure there is a pat answer, unless it's that you would have a very, very difficult time getting a sheriff to sign-off on an NFA acquisition for someone who does not reside within his jurisdiction. I wonder if a regional major within Texas Parks & Wildlife Enforcement could do it.

The reason a lot of people used the trusts was because the CLEO sign off (defined as a chief law enforcement officer with jurisdiction where you live)won't sign off period. Trusts won't help you if this goes through in this form. Trusts will still help if you want someone else to be able to use the weapon or suppressor. They would need to be a member of the trust however (and at least 18 yrs. old). Here is a link to the proposal: http://princelaw.files.wordpress.com/201...er-firearms.pdf

Also, an interesting article with info about the new rule: http://blog.princelaw.com/2013/08/30/atf...a-applications/and a link where you can post your official comment on the changes. When you post your comment you will need to give your name. http://www.regulations.gov/#!docketDetail;D=ATF-2013-0001
