Hey everyone. You got a Ohio boy moving down to Texas due to work. Grew up hunting Ohio my whole life. My family owns 65acres in SE Ohio, which has always been my favorite place to be.
I will be moving down to Texas in about 2 weeks. I needed to join a forum to talk hunting with some guys!
Hope you all are having a good day!

In Texas is the best way to get decent hunting ground lease it up with buddies early in the year?
I am excited to share ideas about hunting with you all, and see how different people think about them from Ohio.

most of our hunting is done over corn feeders. I suppose in the grand scheme of things, it isn't much different than hunting over an agricultural field. Deer are attracted to a food source that you are hunting. A lot of states up north don't allow "baiting" so it might come a bit as a culture shock to you. Anyway, welcome to the party. There's a pretty good group of guys that post here regularly and things will only pick up as we get closer to deer season.

Welcome to Texas and the THF! Most of us only bite once, but there are a few here you have to watch out for.

1. Ohio you are allowed to bait so you wont have be bitching. It is a huge controversy in Ohio for a lot of guys, but I run feeders on my family farm as well as plant food plots.
2. Ill be living in Dallas to start. I actually manage a sales territory of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana so I may move depending on where my business is. I have a lot of customers in Houston.
3. Ya where I lived in Ohio before getting this job was in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. Really was full of great down to earth hardworking country folks. Ohio has some of the nicest darn people you could meet. One of the reasons I took a job in Texas was I hear Texas is very similar to the midwest in the sense people are awfully friendly. Gives me hope!

Most folks in Texas are friendly...At least the natives.
