Last fall was my pups first season. I did not worry much during dove season how she behaved. She did ok. She missed several land marks in her excitement and youth of being in the field. No big deal we were having fun. When I had to walk out to grab a bird she was learning the trade. Duck season opened and a wise older hunter suggested I put a check lead on her to stop the breaking at shot and splash. This was the trick! Mid way through the season I was not using the "check" system. FYI It is one heck of a rodeo when a 75 lb. lab has a 5' running start when the lead comes tight when it is attached to your waist in a layout blind! Follow shot my arse!
