I shot at a wood duck, it fell out of the sky wounded, caught it and killed it. When I dressed it it had no holes in it????? Must have just knocked it silly with one pellet.

Sucked because I had to chase it through the woods and when I caught it it was very much alive. So I had a live, seemingly unhurt duck in my hands that I had to kill by breaking it's neck. Even as a hunter that was tuff to do.

13 years ago. My first dove hunt with my lab (she was only 9 months old). Shot the first dove of the season, it landed at my feet. Did not exactly need a retriever for that dove!!!!

When I was around 12 years old, my dad dropped me off in an old dry cedar tree on a trail leading to an oat patch. The seat and foot rest were a 2x6 board. Then dad and younger brother hunted the blind at the oat patch. Well, a buck came along down the fence line and was under the cedar tree I was in. I got buck fever and the shakes so bad the whole tree rattled and shook. He ran toward the field where my brother shot it.

I shot a dove out of the air with a home made blow gun (1/2" EMT) and a dart made from a chopped DB-705 mobile antenna, a paper cone and 5 minute epoxy. It was a slow day at the Mobilfone shop.

I started hunting when was 9 or 10, doves, squirrels, rabbits. I didn't shoot my first whitetail until I was 28, even though I had been deer hunting a dozen or so times.

They ate just the same as the ones I killed one at a time.

I have only shot 3 horned things. And that means 2 males. The rest were females.

I've never fired a shot at a duck or goose.

Not sure it is that odd but until three years ago I could give a rip less about waterfowl hunting. Now it is what I love to do. I haven't given up deer hunting because I love hunting and the lease aspect. But who knows when I will kill my next deer. I would rather let my son shoot and then I will kill ducks and geese.

I hunted deer once--in 1967. Didn't pick up a rifle to hunt again until 2010.

Bought a new shotgun, Winchester 1200, 12 gage. Took it dove hunting in an old field. 2 Spanish doves flew up and landed on the fence about 3 feet apart. I walked to an angle where they were 6 inches apart and shot. Both flew off. I should have thrown that gun in the nearest stock tank.

Killed a nice 8 point buck on accident when I was 12. Forgot my binoculars in the house and was using my scope to look at a deer. Decided I wasn't going to shoot. Bumped the trigger when I was about to put the gun down and it went off. Safety on the gun was no good. Made a perfect heart shot on that buck.

Only fessed up to it being an accident because I was scared of the gun and wanted to get it checked out. That gun is now retired and sits in the safe collecting dust.

As a kid, I killed a dove as it sat in an elm tree, by chunking a flat, sharp piece of flint rock. Took it's head right off. I was the neighborhood hero and bad arse for a week or two afterward.

I once attempted to kill a turkey by chunking a 4-way tire iron at it. I hit it in the head and knocked it out. Thinking it was dead, I threw it into the bed of the truck. By the time we got back to camp, it had come to. We kept it as a pet for several months until it got run over by a truck. Then we ate him.

Me and some friends once caught a bunch of jackrabbits by hand. We took to the hunting cabin and turned them loose inside. Yes, we were drunk.

I've never choked a catfish.

And finally, if I had to choose, I pick offshore fishing over hunting.

I killed a 6pt buck with my pocket knife. Thought I'd made a bad shot. He had a hind foot caught in a fence and looked done for. I pulled out my knife to cut his foot off to get him out of the fence. He beat the hell out of me by the time I got his throat cut. Found the 6pt I'd actually shot soon after and not far away.

My grandma taught me to skillet shoot quail with a 22. I was a teenager before I hunted quail with a shotgun, before that I shot them with a Stevens single shot 22, using shorts.

My first run in with the law was age 8 or 9. The GW took me and my cousins 22 away.
Lets just say we got to hand pluck a extremely large amount of ditch chickens one night, along with numerous rabbits an blue quail and maybe a duck or two.

We got 410's two days latter

Buddy and I went duck hunting at a stock tank on a very snowy day. Snuck up on the dam side and blasted away when they were flying. As luck would have it, most landed in the water. No wind blowing and ice was forming on the edge of the tank. Buddy was originally from LA and part coon arse. He started to get undressed and said he was going to swim and retrieve the ducks. I told him he was crazy and I had a better plan. I had read in an outdoor magazine how to fix that. Went to his house and got several rods and reels and top water lures and retrieved the ducks. Since snow was on ground it was light enough to see after dark. Took till after midnite to finish that duck hunt.
