on my small place i try to give them something that my neighbor isnt, all my neighbors run straight corn so i have tried pretty much everything thats been said here, except buck crack and indian corn. (probably only because i've never seen it in the store  ) corn/soybean mix (buck ration) is great, rice bran, sweet feed, apple corn, i've had good luck with all of it.
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Water might be a good attractant in parts of West Texas. right now for us you cant beat surface water and protein/corn.
