Thanks, how about recoil ? It's light so I'm curious how bad it kicks

The primary weapons systems flash hider that comes with it tames it down quite a bit I've heard , I shot mine mostly suppressed so it felt like shooting a .223 ar15 . One of hickam45's video on YouTube does comparison on the m1a and scar and the said the scar was very noticeably less recoil

Not a huge fan of the magazine situation. As I understand someone makes a lower (which is not the registered part) that will take pmags

I don't like overpaying for functionality I don't need. I don't plan on being deployed in the desert or other extreme conditions for weeks on end. I'd probably look for a less expensive fnar or winchester sx-ar; I even like the dpms lr-308 because of the upper choices.

Don't get me wrong, the Scar-17s is super nice.

I had a 16 and 17 the 16 I love and am waiting for some more funds to do a 6.8 conversion on the 16. The super scar trigger job is a most for your first upgrade. Great guns I have the PS90 as well bada$$ can't go wrong with FN.

Love my handl defense lower but the tolerances are almost too tight. Fits VERY tight. Need a rubber mallet and punch to remove the pin to break it down. Great to be able to use pmags. Accuracy is great, 3/4-1" MOA. Recoil is very manageable in a lightweight package. I have owned a RR LAR8 and a FNAR prior to the SCAR. The SCAR was/is the clear winner.

Would pick up a POF instead and save some coin, best shooting 308 I have had the pleasure to shoot.

Heck for that kind of cash I would think you would get the best trigger available with the gun in the first place.

I own a 17s and its a damn fine rifle. Light as hell compared to a few AR-10 I held.

I have looked at the POF and they seem well put together but there price seems about the same as the SCAR.

I may be in the minority but I'm personally not a fan. I didn't care for the trigger or the plastic buttstock. I've heard that some people have had those crack. You'll also have to swap out the lower (not the serial numbered part) in order to accept PMAGs. That may or may not be a big deal for you.

But then again, it's way lighter weight than any AR platform 308 that I know of.

Another big positive, you won't have any trouble selling it if you hate it.

Ya I slapped a timney trigger in it immediately so I didn't get to play wih the stock trigger . But it is more geared towards a battle rifle than a target shooter

Those 17's are wonderful. If you can swing one, you won't be disappointed with how it shoots. My only beef, and I realize this is pretty shallow, is the price. I hate the retail price. From what I understand, though, they can't sell them cheaper to the public than they can to the government, and that's why they cost what they cost.

I can say from experience, the Scar 17 heavy is a great rifle. The recoil is about the same as an AR15 and is very accurate. I average a 3 shot group at 100 yards at 3/4".
