Just curious if there is a large number of people hunting with AR platform rifles in Texas. Who hunts deer with AR platforms regardless of caliber?

When I had one, I did. I killed two Does with it. It was a plain Jane A1 config Double Star AR15 but it shot well.

If my Grendel ever comes in I'll be using one.

I have used my 308 AR for pigs and deer/axis, my 300 BLK for pigs and whitetail, and my 223 for pigs.

I use an R15 Remington in .30RAR. I've shot one with my 5.56 as well. Not a regular habit I would make though.

Haven't hunted with my AR yet, but I have with my FAL.

I haven't....yet but would like to. Mainly hogs or yotes if I get the chance

I will probably try it with my current plain jane 20" A2 DPMS on hogs. It shoots well enough with the stock sights as is.

Shot a few pigs and coyotes with my 223.

I've killed whitetail , axis , and blackbuck with the 6.8spc

Three cull does at 300+, 4 pigs in 4 seconds with a FNAR.

first hunting season with AR. FNAR works great. 3/4" outside to outside group at 100 yds.

I do and will this year if I can get 168 gr 308.

I've killed a few with almost the same setup.

I've killed deer w/ .223,6.8, and .300BLK. and also w/ FNAR in .308

My .223 has killed somewhere around 50-60 deer on depredation shoots. I'd say no more than 5 made it farther than 30 yds before dropping

I killed a little piggy with mine. He was DRT, as you can see the blood spray on the grass behind him. He was in a dead sprint and dropped like a stone.

My pig rig for night hunting is built around an ARP 7.62x39 barrel. It works great.

Call me old fashioned, but I can't bring myself to point an auto loader at a deer...

I shoot mostly hogs with my R25 .308 and one doe. I have never been under-gunned. ARs arent the greatest for up close shots due to the high sight axis but I have shot hogs as close as 40 yards with no problems.

Shot a doe with my AR15 in .223 at 80-100 yards. Went no more than 30 yards.

Hogs and deer are no problem with my ar-15 using hornady 75 bthp! It whacks them good and penetrates nice considering its a hp!

I do, 300 Blackout the last 2 years (suppressed this year), and miny years with 6.5 Grendel, 300 RSAUM, 50 Beowulf, and 243 WSSM.

Same here. For other work, the ARs are too heavy, too unwieldy, and too ugly.

thats about all i hunt with now. ar10 and ar15 in 556 or 300 bo.

will be using it almost exclusively once I build a 6.8 upper.... or buy another ar-10

Whitetail deer and hogs are no match for a 75 bthp hornady! Im glad someone on this forum told me to give them a whirl! They penetrate great even though they are a hp, guess the heavier grain. I'm sure glad my daniel defense 1/7" barreled ar loves them.
