On a scale of 1-5 with one being "a weekend hunt during the season is enough for me" and a 3 being "I hunt a lot but will give up an evening sit to watch the football game" to a 5 being " I missed my sisters/brothers/ kids wedding cause the rut is starting"
I'm probably about a 4.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Edit: 3.5- Alot of y'all are way more serious than me and y'all are saying 4, so I'm going to bump down a little. I'm bout a 4 like you said. Counting evening hunts after work I hunted 60-65 days last season, that's dove, ducks, and deer. I didn't count, my wife did. Missed lots of NFL games, was late for thanksgiving at my mom's, and my son even skipped some of his late season games chasing his 10 point that he never got.

I'm deadly serious about deer hunting. Well, maybe not deadly serious. I have passed up nice bucks because it was too cold to get out of a heated stand and field dress them. And I have slept in late instead of hunting because it was foggy, or rainy, or windy, or too hot. But other than that, I'm a 5!

I have to go with 4 too. I hunted almost every weekend of deer, turkey and dove season. And probably every other weekend between for pigs and exotics.

I'm a 5..Was dreaming of owning a ranch where I could hunt since the days I spent in Mason hunting with my Father back in the late 1960's..I hunt almost everyday during season, most of Oct I'm in the stand scouting and killing pigs. Besides hunting my ranch, I have a lease north of Albany this year. When not hunting animals, I'm hunting big Bass..

Very close to 5.
I will miss any special event, holiday, etc.
Mom had a heart attack in San Angelo and I was hunting in Howard County 2 years ago... never left, glad she pulled through.
I stash back ALL of my vacation for the rut.
I've been known to skip eating for up to a week (seriously) in order to make a lease payment. Dropped 20lbs, but it's what I live for. BTW, if you dont eat for about a week, then gorge yourself on pay day, you'll get sicker than sick can be.
I "work", but most of the time I'm on here...

I had been on the ranch hunting since opening morning of gun season. I bet I smelled terrible. Sorry Roy! I was going to goto San Angelo to see mom, but she insisted I stay and hunt. She knows me all too well. Also, most of my hunting party is back in camp by 11am or so... I'll stick it out till at least 1pm...or till i have to poop, whichever comes first. Caught many a deer roaming around mid-day.

^^ See that's why I changed mine to a 3.5, I know I'm not nearly as serious as some people here.

I start out a 4 and it declines as the season goes on. Early on, I wouldn't skip a hunt for a football game. Later on I might.
It also depends on if I've shot something and whether or not there is a specific buck that has me fired up running around on camera.

Probably a 3.5 now but back in my younger days I was at least a 5. As you get older your priorities change.

Considering my schedule a 4. I won't miss a scheduled family event but anything else takes a backseat. On Easter this year we landed from skiing the night before, dyed eggs, went to church the next morning, hunted eggs, celebrated sons birthday and then kicked everyone out and head straight to the lease with time to hunt. Bagged a nice one the next day.

From a 1 to a 5, I can go hunt or not go hunt depending on what is going on at the time.

I'm a 5. Got married November 30, a Friday night. Next morning me and the wife were in a deer blind. I send the September through January birthday people gifts. And Mine is in December. I haven't had a Birthday party at home in at least 15 yrs. Maybe a dinner or two but not on my birthday.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

By THOSE standards I'm a 5 because I'm gonna be there if I can. week ends, long weekends and a couple of weeks vacation each year. BUT once I'm there I'm not so serious about it, I hunt 2- 3 hrs in A.M. and 2-3 hrs in P.M. but don't mind missing a hunt, say, to stay back and cook or help someone else with something they need done. My main thing is I just like being THERE better than here !!!

I would be well over a 5 by the standards you set and off the charts. I have lost a job over a hunting trip. Missed countless holidays, birthdays, parties and family events. I have hunted as many as 143 days out of a 151 day MLD season one year.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Currently about a 2.5. If I had a regular place to go with decent hunting, that might bump to 3.5, but I don't ever see it higher than that. After the freezer is full, I'm just as happy sitting on the porch at the house, and the need to go hunting falls to nothing. If the weather is really bad, it better be a really special hunt with a guaranteed kill to get me out of the house.
I'll hunt doves in my pasture at the start of the season, but as soon as the numbers drop off, the gun gets put up. I'll go out 5-10 times in a good year after pigs, but this depends more on the landowner seeing pigs than my feeling the need to go. I love to hunt them, but they are absent more than present where I can hunt. I only deer hunt when someone invites me, so those are always planned trips where I do nothing else.
Deer quality is not measured by antler size
