Wow, Winchester refusing to be accountable is going to cost them a ton of customers.
They are off my list from here forward.

I doubt Wincheser actually makes the safe. If memory serves me correctly Granite use to make Winchester safes (and maybe they still do). Winchester should still be standing behind it though since it has thier name on it.

Do the guy's at Winchester not realize that there are 46K poterntial customers on this site and that thousands of them have read this "blog". If it were my company I would have sent you a new safe and picked up the locksmith fees months ago.....

I agree you have an insane amount of patience. I used to have a weedeater until it wouldnt start like 30 times in a row. I gave it a couple days and same thing. So the hammer of THOR was the great equalizer in our garage along with a barrage of words that cant even be bleeped on here.

No Winchester safe for me, that's for sure. One thing I can't stand is a Company that won't stand behind their product.

Well, Winchester really messed up. Granted a company doesn't want to get a bind providing extra service for everyone with a complaint, the fact is that safes aren't that prone to breaking and the mileage they would have gotten from taking care of this customer would have FAR outweighed the cost or ramifications of not stepping up to the plate on this one.

I had to get a safe myself, and evaluate for the upcoming purchase of 20 safes (not for gun storage). I have been watching this thread closely, and along a host of others in a position to promote their products (not just safes).

I was all set to get a Winchester(s), but as a direct result of this thread I had to reconsider Winchester and electronic keypads in general. Ended up purchasing a Liberty and am very pleased. Since it worked for me, it is what my client is going to purchase for his needs. Too bad, Winchester - you just lost a BIG sale. But they probably don't care, as they sell through retailers. It will be their retailers/dealers who will take it in the shorts.

And I guarantee the government won't be buying any Winchester products in the near future. I wonder if the customer service rep knows how bad he screwed over the direct sales team.

Here is my new Liberty, still on the crate.

Very nice, let us know how you like it, and where you got it. I'm currently searching for a safe.

even if they do take care of it this time, i still wont buy their safe. if ya have to go through this to get internal parts repaired...i dont need the hassle. if it is your own fault the internal parts broke, i dont wanna be responsible. how in the heck are we supposed to be responsible for stuff we cant touch or see?

Trying to find a lighter side to this story!

Probably would make a heck of a smoker when you finally get it open. Then go get a safe from someone with real customer service or one that has backup keys.....

I like the smoker idea, that's awesome. Check out American Security safes. Best warranty and customer service in the bidness. I don't get any kickback for saying this, I do however sell them and own one myself. When I found out how they take care of the end user I bought one for myself and have zero complaints.

Been following this ongoing thread to see what the outcome was. I'm buying a new safe within the next few weeks, and I'm no longer considering Winchester as an option. Rather just hide my guns under my bed than put them in a box I can't open. Not impressed with how it was handled by CS. Surprised they just didn't blame it on Bush...

Another sale lost. And I'll post receipt/pics of new safe when I get it if anyone's interested to prove I'm not blowing smoke.

This is bad news for them, if i didnt have a winchester safe already i wouldnt own one. It has been good to me and no problems but this thread makes me want to sell it and get a liberty.

I think all the guys who said they were in the market and will no longer buy a winchester should post pics of your new non-winchester just as John did.

Not for proof to us on here but for winchester just incase they are really following this thread.

I appreciate all the support on here, I never new I would get the response that I've gotten. I have read that response from Winchester many of times. They act like I had something to hide. I beat on the safe every which way I could because they told me they were not going to help in anyway. If they would have said we will help in anyway, I wouldn't have touched it. The safe was great until it wouldn't open, but anyways thanks for the support!

One more gun and I'll be buying another but started looking and comparing early! Guess who's out of the running. Current safe is a Sentry with Electric Lock AND BACKUP KEYS.

I would send this whole thread to them and say thanks for what you did, here is some things that may make you think about it for the next time you do this to someone.

Man what a PITA! Sorry for all you are going through but greatful for the education WE are all getting.

You thing good you CAN say for that safe is it's not easy to break into !!!

The Locksmith will be back next week. I know a torch or grinder will get it open, I just don't want any sparks hitting the lining inside.

Chisel and 4 lb sledge. Or an 8 lb flat head axe. If it comes down to something along those lines, make sure you video it.

Man,

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I am about to buy an AmSec FV6036E5 just because Winchester flat out gave you the finger.

I was looking at three safe companies. Libery, Winchester, AmSec. Winchester was what everyone was telling me to get due to "quality"...yeah I will never buy any Winchester safe as long as I live.

I can't wait to get my AmSec...I bet if it broke, AmSec would do me right.

Winchester reps: If you are reading this, you just lost around $1000. Good job!

I sent them an email with a link to this thread like others have. Told them that their customer service was poor at best and that it will cost them more in lost sales than it would have to have replaced this safe and have the defective one opened.
They didn't reply confused2
