150,000 acres in Brewster just north of entrance of Big Bend park.
Great mule deer and blue quail hunting since they had good water on the ranch.

Tiller 55 Ranch, Glenrock, Wy. 455K acres
Their other ranch in Douglas is over 550K.
Probably more antelope on that one ranch than in Texas. The North Platte runs across it so it has some giant whitetails too.
The owners are just normal ranchmen that drive old pickups and work everyday.

I've been primarily on the same Webb Co ranch for the last 33 yrs, hunted others in Webb and surrounding counties too, but I've never missed a year on this ranch. We've had at one time the entire 17,000 acres, now I have access to 12,000 acres of this same ranch with family and friends that use these pastures primarily for corporate purposes. I have 500 acres of my own for my kids right in the middle.

Buddies place is 10k. Used to be 11k but neighbor bought 1k. Fives miles is still low fenced. I normally hunt my 1,000 acre lease in Montague. I'll see more deer in a couple hunts on the 10k than I will see in a whole season on my 1k lease. But some hunts you won't see anything while the person 500 yards away sees 20 deer and all kinds of other game. Deer on the 10k would be a shooter anywhere else by most standards but if you aren't there at the rut, you won't see anything big. All about management and restraint. Both these ranches will never be open to lease...

Put in 6 wells for ARCO back in the early 80's just nth of Douglas, we had antelope bed down just off the location.

I hunt on the Pitchfork ranch. Its 165,000 acres. Our lease is 10 thousand acres of the southwest corner. Most of the ranch is guided hunts only. We are fortunate to have our lease. The only reason they season lease this portion is that its a 75 mile round trip just to get to our pasture from the ranch headquarters.

2500 acres is the largest lease I have been on. 16 sections (10,240 acres) in the pan handle near Shamrock as a guest for a few hunts. My 3 best bucks came from 112 acres

I hunted one over 60,000 acres for javelina this spring although we never got out of one 11,000 acre pasture. And really only hunted about a third of that.

I hunted the Baker3 ranch and I think it was around 20,000 acres then. I have three leases, one 1500, one 400 and one is 100 acres. I hunt about 300 acres in Missouri.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

I've hunted the King Ranch but only once. I use to hunt/guide on the 6,000 acre Welder Ranch near Sinton, & the 5,000 acre Terrell Ranch near Victoria. The place I deer hunt on now is about 700 acres. The biggest spread that I currently pig hunt on is about 107,000 acres of farm land also near Sinton but strictly for pig removal. Oh I've also hunted on the McNutt Ranch near Kerrville (4,000 +) but that ranch is HF so it doesn't count. grin

How long ago was this? When I was on the Callaghan and road around with Joe he told me at that time it was just over 100k. That was in the late 90's or early 2000. They lease 75k out and then kept about 25k for the family to hunt and outfit.

It was in 91 and 92. That ranch changes sizes like I change socks. They've been involved in several lawsuits and I guess they sell parts off as they need money. The funny thing is that they usually lease back part of what they sell. At one point it was around 250,000 acres. When I was there, a ranch hand said it was around 110,000 acres owned with around 67,000 acres leased. Maybe he didn't know what he was talking about but that's what he told me.

I hunted another big ranch outside Fort Stockton but can't remember the name. I was right next to some land that had a huge white cross on it by the highway. I'm thinking it may have been 90,000 acres but don't remember for sure. It may have been more like 42,000 acres. A former Texas Ranger pitcher had leased the hunting rights for bow hunting Mule Deer.

They own around 107k I believe and of that they lease out around 70k to hunters( as of around 2000). It might be what he was talking about. It was much larger many years ago.

Added: I was thinking about how crappy the Ft Stockton hunt was and remembered what the "guide" told me. Having never seen the ranch and never bowhunted Mule Deer, I asked him where would be a good place to start hunting. He said "You have 13,000 acres. Just pick a place and hunt". So I'm guessing it was 13,000 acres.
