Took one to the middle toe. It hurts. Alot. At hospital now. They gave me an IV ( probly bc i was drunk) no anti venom for now. Lots of swelling and pain but not life or foot threatening. Word of advise.. Dont wear flip flops in woods.

Had a friend kill a 3'er in his yard tonight. I guess they were moving good. It doesn't look like you took much venom.

What did it feel like

It felt like someone hit my toe with a nail through it. Afterwards (and now). It feels about like a wasp sting x 20.

I stepped out of my buddies Rhino and WACK. I knew what happened b4 i looked down... My buddy tured it into a good snake, but damage was done.. If any of you fools ever thinks about not killing one of these... This could be your foot.. Or a kids.

Wow, hope you're better soon. This past dove season, I was hunting and decided to move to another spot. I got out of my truck and walked to the bed to get my stuff out not knowing I had parked right beside a 4' diamondback that I didn't see. When I got to the rear of the truck and turned to let the tailgate down, WHAM.... no warning and no rattle..... he hit me about mid way up on the back of my calf. Ever so thankful that I had put my leggings on about 20 minutes before I decided to move to this location.

To this day, I am amazed at the force that he hit with. Not hearing him rattle, my first thought was that someone had hit me in the back of the leg with a baseball bat, it was that hard of a stike. Immediately afterwards, the snake died a horrible death, dove hunting was over for the day and that pair of Fruit of the Looms was no longer salvageable.....

That is GREAT news! Glad you get to go home. Thanks for sharing this experience with us. I always wear my snake boots this time of year and this story is a reminder to me of why it's important.

It seems like I've seen more snakes the last two years here in North Texas than the previous ten years. I even had a bright green ribbon snake come in the house and stretch out on the first step of the staircase. I thought the little guy was a toy that got left out but when I went to step over it and it moved...well...I didn't know I had that kind of agility still. It turned into a scene from 'Riverdance - Hillbilly Style' right there on the staircase. Once I calmed down and regained my senses, I had a good laugh and picked up the little snake to relocate outside.

How long did they say before you'll feel normal again - no pain and no swelling?

With feet like that I'd recommend not wearing flip flops in public. Just kidding man. Glad to hear no major harm done and your heading home.

Did they put in a catheter? Think that would hurt just as bad.

Glad your ok. I agree that flip flops are a bad idea in Texas except at the pool or on the beach. If it aint snakes its fire ants, scorpions etc....
