I am not good with legal-speak. How does CSSB 864 play into this? It appears to me to be approved in lieu of HB 47.

Yep, looks like it is: SB 864, Author: Campbell Category: CH license Relating to a handgun proficiency course that is taken to obtain or renew a concealed handgun license. Requires renewal CHLs to take the same course as new licensees. Changes the class requirements for a new CHL license. The course would include four to six class hours, plus the proficiency exam. The renewal class would be the same length, but the classroom portion could be offered online. If not vetoed, the act will take effect September 1, 2013. Status: Filed 2/26/2013. Last action: 05/24/2013 E Effective on 9/1/13 HB 47 by Flynn | et al., Very Similar, 05/04/2013 H Laid on the table subject to call

I received a letter from EWA (Exotic Wildlife Association) with the following summary of HB48.
HB 48,that would eliminate the continual education course for the renewal of a CHL, but would require licensees to read the new laws when they renew their license, was signed by the Governor, effective immediately. EWA supported the bill.
This sounds like there in no renewal course required, just read the laws? And effective immediately? If this is right then the 9-1-2013 is no longer an issue.
