Hello all,
I'm new to the AR15 game, having been a firm advocate of combloc weaponry for some time. As luck would have it I was able to get a stripped Palmetto State Armory Lower and a stripped upper From AeroPrecision, along with a lower parts kit. My question is: Can I build a 9mm AR15 that uses STEN magazines with the basic parts I have?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

IDK about the bolts-particularly something that strips center-feed rather than stagger-feed. Not sure about feedramps or buffer setups.

Here's an adapter for STEN magazines.

Thanks! it has been ordered! it looks like i am going to have to get a different hammer as well, and a specialized bolt.

The two conversions out there in 9mm are for Colt patter mags or Glock mags. You can buy a mag block to convert the lower you have to the Colt style stagger feed mags. Buy the MetalForm mags if you want it to run 100%. C-Products mags work well as a range mag but don't run 100%. The plastic ProMags work alright but swell when loaded and had weak feed lips.

BCJ, thanks for the info, my situation is that i must use the STEN magazines, as i have a veritable plethora of them, I can not afford to pay 45 dollars per magazine for what in essence is going to be a bullet hose. Magazines are too damn pricey...whodathunkit that a box and spring could be so pricey?

There's also Uzi magwell conversions.

While I am sure it's possible, and no duobt someone has build a lower that will take Sten mags, I would never pursue that method.

If you recall back to the days of the first mag ban. Everyone with a Mac11 ran out to cut/chop/rebuild their Mac11 to take lanchester mags because the mags were super cheap. Like $20/dozen.

It turned out most of the bargin mags which though wrapped in paper, and packed in grease, all had some issue. Worn mag lips, fatigued springs, dents in the mag body.

It was a necessary exercise at the time. There were no other mags available. Not just expensive, unavailable. However, that is not the case now.

If I was building a 9mm AR, I'd go UZI mags, and not look back.

well i have some photos...no threat is complete without photos..
Here is the basis of the build

And here is the reason for the selection of STEN mags

The Hahn Precision magblock is on its way.
i have tested these magazines in a Sterling Carbine that feeds from both the double stack Sterling magazine and the STEN, and they all work reliably. I do understand the quality difference in Uzi magazines vs the STEN magazines...some of them look as if they were cobbled together in a muffler shop by monkeys with a disability or possibly government employees.
